About BrainTrack
BrainTrack is a higher education and career resource with worldwide reach. It features a directory of the world's universities and colleges with over 13,000 institutions listed from over 190 countries. The site is the oldest (since 1996) and largest directory of universities and colleges on the Web. BrainTrack's goal is to help visitors make better decisions about their education and careers.
Thousands of global sites, including hundreds of colleges, libraries, government agencies, and publishers link to BrainTrack as an authoritative resource. Many of these sites write about the value of BrainTrack for their visitors.
BrainTrack also features in-depth coverage of United States higher education with comprehensive listings of thousands of post-secondary schools. All US colleges and universities listed on BrainTrack have accreditation recognized by the US Department of Education. Schools are organized alphabetically, by state, by careers, and by religion.
BrainTrack's growing list of original higher education and career articles for US students further aids in decision making. Topics covered include financial aid, accreditation, college transfers, degrees, certifications, studying in the US, studying abroad, and student stories that relate personal experiences of those currently completing their studies in such fields as nursing, teaching, business, and computer science. A series of career profiles give details on job responsibilities, required education and certifications, common personality characteristics, how to choose schools, and more.
An online education section is focused on helping students to decide on whether to pursue a distance/online college program and if so how to get the most value out of their studies. The section features interviews with online students and teachers to provide practical advice and real-world experiences. The online schools listed include several that serve students worldwide.

BrainTrack Research and Sources
BrainTrack strives to make its directory of the world's universities and colleges as complete and comprehensive as possible. Our staff is constantly monitoring and updating the database as well as collecting information about higher education institutions and careers from a wide range of data sources, including:
Colleges and universities - A variety of higher education datasources throughout the world are referenced, including governments and other publicly available resources. For example for US universities and colleges BrainTrack makes use of US Department of Education sources as well as information available directly from the schools.
Careers - BrainTrack's colleges by career profiles employ data from government agencies, occupational associations, and other public sources of information. For example data is used from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and the O*NETTM project (version 14), which is sponsored by the US Department of Labor. (O*NETTM is a trademark of the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration).
