Even though each major may be different, the reason they are all incorporated under business is that they all eventually end up working together to make that big picture of owning a company or maybe even just putting on small non-profit events. While every part of business may be different, no one part is more important than the other and so when it comes to business, finding that niche or that part that a person is good at then shows what they can contribute to the company and to their future success.
Being in a business field is also not just about having that one part that contributes but having that knowledge of what grinds the gears in a business and being able to incorporate to the outside world and eventually creating an effect not only in our own lives but of those around us and far away from us.
What have you enjoyed most and least during your business degree program so far?
What I have enjoyed most about my business degree program so far can also be considered what I have least enjoyed. As a student, I am somewhat of a perfectionist. When I do not get the grades that I want, I usually get frustrated with myself knowing that I could do better. This business program that I am in has challenged me and shown me everything that I had no idea existed about the business world.
The information that I have learned from the business program could also be considered my least favorite part in the sense that there was so much so quick that it seemed to be so much that I would not be able to handle it. Something that the business program has helped me with that I looked forward to now is being able to stand in front of a crowd of people and present either a program or an idea. The fact that the business program is not just based on filling out a bunch of paperwork but also to present and prepare programs fascinates me.
The business program at my university has allowed me to enjoy school and look forward to everyday as I learn new skills and even though I may not enjoy having so much information given to me at once, I learn from it all and continue to look forward to that.
What led you to choose business as a career path?
What led me into business as a career path was nothing more than nature. My parents could tell that since I was little, I would go into a business like career. As the older child of three, I would always be in charge of the family, showing my leadership and managerial skills. As I continued to grow, my skills grew as well. I would begin to count my money and manage it to the point that I would journalize every transaction and keep tabs on the amount of money that was saved versus what money could be spent.
Early on in my life I had no idea what this process was until I got into my junior year of high school. I ended up taking an accounting class because a professor referred me into the class. Ever since that point I have noticed that I love to be able to count up money, organize it into different statements and post them to the different journals/ledgers. I would find that the accounting class would be easy to me while all of my classmates were struggling. I had a knack for the class and ended up loving every second where I would be able to put on some music and get to work with all of my transactions. Ever since then I believe that this career path chose me early on in my life.
