Ecole Polytechnique

The École Polytechnique, often referred to by its nickname X, was founded in the year 1794. It is a military college, and the foremost French higher educational institute of engineering. The institute was moved to the 445-acre campus in Palaiseau in the year 1976. École Polytechnique offers enrollment to more than 2,000 graduate students every year.

École Polytechnique offers master’s degrees and doctoral programs in the fields of biology, chemistry, computer science, economics, humanities and social sciences, languages and cultures, mathematics, applied mathematics, mechanics, and physics. The institute trains graduates to become outstanding researchers, scientists, and managers.

École Polytechnique sponsors over 100 student associations on campus. Students also participate in sports like basketball, fencing, rugby, and sailing.
