Montpellier 2 University

The Montpellier 2 University, established in 1970, is located in Montpellier, Hérault, France. The outbreak of the French Revolution in 1793 led to the suppression of the University of Montpellier. However, in 1808, Napoleon created the Imperial University which led to the formation of quite a few faculties of humanities and science in several cities of France. The faculties of science and of letters were established in Montpellier in 1810. The Institute of Botany was created in the late 1800s. In 1964, the university was relocated to a 30-hectare campus in the north of the Montpellier. Montpellier 2 University, originally a part of the University of Montpellier, became a separate entity in 1970. It now houses the Faculty of Sciences as well as the Institute of Botany. The Montpellier 2 University's recent enrollments have been more than 12,000 students. The university offers degrees the following academic divisions:

The students are associated with organizations such as Taust-amateur theatre at the University of Science and Technology, QUANTA, STUDENT UM2 SUD, OIKOS, and MUST - Music at the University of Science and Technology. The Sports Association of Montpellier 2 University organizes sports competitions along with FFSU. The students of the university are involved in tennis, football, volleyball, judo, badminton, karate, table tennis, swimming, and basketball.
