University Of Amsterdam

University of Amsterdam, also known as UvA was established in 1632. It is located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The predecessor of the university was founded in Agnietenkapel in the 14th century to provide education in History and Philosophy. The university was just a small institution till the 19th century. In 1877, it got the permission to award higher degrees. UvA's recent enrollments have been more than 27,000 students. The university offers undergraduate and graduate programs of study through the following academic divisions:

• Faculty of Law

The university museum consists of almost 50,000 items. The cultural organization of the university, called CREA, organizes drama, dance, visual arts, music, and photography. The students are also involved with a number of organizations such as International Student Network Amsterdam, Association of Chinese Scholars and Students in Amsterdam, AEGEE and ASVA Student Union. The university alumni include eminent personalities such as Menno ter Braak, a writer; Luitzen Egbertus Jan Brouwer, a mathematician; are among many others.
