The University of British Columbia, abbreviated as UBC, was established in 1906. It is located in Vancouver, Canada. The first Canadian graduate program was launched at the University of British Columbia. The first doctoral program was also introduced at the University of British Columbia in 1961. UBC's recent enrollments have been more than 35,000 undergraduate and 7,000 postgraduate students. The university offers undergraduate and graduate programs of study through the following graduate schools:

The University has two campuses located in Vancouver and Kelowna. The NPC (National Panhellenic Conference) sororities are supported by the university are Alpha Gamma Delta, Kappa Alpha Theta, Delta Gamma, Gamma Phi Beta and Alpha Delta Pi. The athletics team, named the UBC Thunderbirds, represents the university in Canadian Interuniversity Sport. The students are involved in games such as football, soccer, volleyball, golf, swimming, rugby and basketball.
The notable alumni of the university include personalities such as Nicola Cavendish, an actor; Stevie Cameron, a journalist; Genni Gunn, translator and novelist; Pat Carney, a Canadian Senator and William Gibson, a writer; and many others.
