The University of Guelph, abbreviated as U of G, was established in 196, and is located Guelph, Ontario. Initially the university was a non-denominational institution consisting of Ontario Agricultural College, Ontario Veterinary College and the Macdonald Institute. Extensive construction work was done between 1967 and 1975, which gave rise to buildings like the MacKinnon Building, and McLaughlin Library. U of G's recent enrollment have been more than 17,000 undergraduate and 2,000 postgraduate students. The university offers undergraduate and graduate programs of study through the following colleges:

The Guelph Gryphons represent the university in Canadian Interuniversity Sport and Ontario University Athletics. The mascot is a Gryphon which is named Gryph. The teams participate in basketball, football, ice hockey, swimming, volleyball, and soccer, cross country running, and wrestling. At Guelph is the official newspaper of the university.
The university alumni include personalities such as Robert Leigh, a physicist, Allan M. Armitage, a professor, Graham Henderson, a lawyer; Thomas McBroom, a golf course architect; Rick Eugenio Ferraro, a politician; Jane Urquhart, an author; and many others.
