University Of Manitoba

The University of Manitoba, established in 1877, is located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The Manitoba Medical College became a part of University of Manitoba in 1882. Other colleges like Manitoba College of Pharmacy, St. Paul's College, and St. Andrew's College also joined the university. The Evening institute was established in 1936. The University of Manitoba's recent enrollment have been more than 24,000 undergraduate and 3,000 postgraduate students. The university offers undergraduate and graduate programs of study through the following academic divisions:

  • St. Andrew's College
  • University College

The student’s union of the university, known as UMSU, work for the improvement of the student life and education. The UMFM is the campus radio which is run by the university volunteers. The sports teams are called the Manitoba Bisons. The sports teams are involved in hockey, football, swimming, cross country, basketball, soccer, volleyball, and track and field.

The university alumni include personalities such as Donald Dewar of Dauphin, politician; W. L. Morton, a historian; Leonard Peikoff, a philosopher; Adele Wiseman, an author; Miriam Toews, novelist; and many others.
