The University of Munster, also known as “Westfalische Wilhelms-Universität Munster” in German, was established in 1780. It is also abbreviated as WWU. It is located in Munster, North Rhine-Westphalia, in Germany. The university started as Jesuiten-Kolleg Münster, established in 1588. It got its present name in 1907, from Emperor Wilhelm II. WWU's recent enrollments have been nearly 40,000 students. The university offers undergraduate and graduate programs of study through the following academic divisions:

- Faculty of Law
- Faculty of Music
- Faculty of Natural Science and Mathematics
- Faculty of Philosophy

The University comprises of four museums, two theatres, and a botanical garden. The students are associated with organizations like AIESEC, Munster Turkish Students Association, Ecological Democratic Students Association, Protestant Student Community, Esperanto Students Association, and Academical Rowing Club. The students compete in sports such as badminton, fencing, handball, hockey, rowing, karate, and boxing.
