About the School
Accounting and Business School of the Rockies was founded in 1996 and offers five different accounting and business certificate programs. Each program is focused on teaching specific skills and can be completed in a short period of time, enabling students to keep working while completing school.
With two locations in Colorado, in Greenwood Village and Northglenn, the Accounting and Business School of the Rockies has designed a curriculum to provide students the ability to learn useful skills that can be directly applied in the business world. The school prides itself on its job placement ability, with 90% of their professional bookkeeping graduates finding a job last year.
Academic Programs
Classes are offered in both of their locations, with students choosing between live scheduled classes or self-paced programs. The following five programs are offered:
- Professional Bookkeeper Certification – program covers the basics of bookkeeping, including preparing the Balance Sheet and Income Statement for a variety of businesses. Classes also focus on the necessary computer skills for a career in bookkeeping and accounting, such as Microsoft programs and QuickBooks. This course was designed using market research to ensure that the appropriate accounting and bookkeeping skills are taught. Students can choose from both live and self-paced classes.
- Office Management Certification – the ability to successfully manage a business office is the goal of this program, training each student in a variety of office management settings. This program is self paced and includes office procedures, bookkeeping, communication skills, and commonly used Microsoft programs such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and Access.
- Administrative Assistant Certification – program designed to successfully prepare students for office support roles in a variety of office settings. Training is self paced and focuses on office procedures, business communication, customer service and commonly used Microsoft programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel and Access.
- Customer Service/Call Center Certification – program to train students for a variety of customer service and call center careers. Self paced training includes call center overview and team dynamics, keyboarding, customer service and commonly used Microsoft programs such as Word and Excel.
- Microsoft Power User Certification – program training in commonly used Microsoft programs such as Outlook, Excel, Access, Powerpoint and Word. This self paced program was designed to help students succeed in most business environments, where Microsoft programs are commonly found.
Learning Options
Flexible schedule with day, evening, and weekend classes offered. New classes start each month and are offered year round, so students can begin a program at any time. Self paced programs are also available for students to learn at their own speed, where courses can be taken at the school with instructors providing coaching and progress tracking. Tests are given at the end of each class to ensure the appropriate level of learning is achieved before being rewarded a certificate.
Faculty
Instructors provide personal attention due to the small class sizes. Students build confidence by being taught "hands-on" and "learn by doing" teaching methods. Students are also provided help beyond the classrooms.
Student Life
Accounting and Business School of the Rockies is a commuter school with two location options for students. The school has numerous relationships with staffing agencies available to help graduates with job placement. Free seminars on how to start a bookkeeping business are also held often for students.
Admissions and Financial Aid
The enrollment process is intended to be easy for students. Students must contact the school for enrollment forms, and can either complete the forms with assistance at an appointment, or can opt to have the forms mailed to them. Students are encouraged to complete enrollment forms as early as possible to guarantee timely placement in a program.
Accounting and Business School of the Rockies works with students to find the appropriate financial aid and financing options. The school is approved by the State of Colorado's WIA program, Vocational Rehabilitation, and by the Colorado State approving agency for veteran's benefits.
