About the School
The Academy of Court Reporting (ACR) was founded in 1970 in Cleveland, Ohio. A campus has since been been added in Clawson, Michigan. Programs are offered in court reporting, paralegal, legal secretary, security and investigation, private investigation, legal office clerk, legal administrative assistant and paralegal office administrator. Students are trained for careers in court systems, government agencies, hospitals, law firms and other businesses. Programs vary by campus.
Academic Programs
- Court Reporter Program - Trains students to be proficient with a stenotype machine and with computer aided transcription.
- Legal Administrative Assistant - Students are taught basic computer and office skills for jobs as legal office clerks and legal administrators.
- Legal Secretary - Computer and office skills are emphasized. The curriculum offers basic legal research skills.
- Paralegal - The program's goal is to provide students basic knowledge of the court systems, law libraries, procedures and various areas of the law.
- Paralegal Office Administrator - The curriculum offers education in basic legal research and utilizing computerized legal research.
- Private Investigation - The program covers the fields of private investigating, government investigators, insurance fraud investigator, security specialist, employment background investigator, worker compensation investigator and other subjects.
- Security and Investigation - Training is provided for employment in the investigation and loss-prevention fields.

Full-time and part-time learning education schedules are available.
Faculty
The programs provide experienced faculty who have worked or are currently working in their teaching fields. The instructor's goal is for students to meet a standard of performance necessary to find employment in their chosen field.
Student Life
The academy offers assistance with preparing resumes, job searches, interview preparation and scheduling interviews. Approximately 70% of the students attend classes full-time. Approximately 90% of the students receive financial aid. Also, library resources are available.
Admissions and Financial Aid
Admissions representatives assist students in selecting an appropriate career path. A thorough orientation is provided to accepted students. A Financial Aid Officer is available at each campus. Financial aid is provided to qualified students.
