About Advanced Technology Institute

Advanced Technology Institute is a technical college located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The school provides education and training for air conditioning and heating, automotive, heavy vehicle technology and commercial driving. The institute consults with industry professionals to ensure students receive the education and training necessary to succeed in their chosen fields. The school offers associate degrees and less than 1-year and less than 2-year certificates.

Academic Programs

  • Master Certified Automotive Technology Programs - Students are trained in all aspects of automotive maintenance and repair.
  • Automotive/Diesel Training - Teaches ASE/Ford-Plus and the core requirements for diesel/heavy vehicle training.
  • Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Program - Authorized ESCO and Nate Testing Center. The shop includes large commercial air conditioning systems. Hands-on training is emphasized.
  • Structural Program - Provides training in various aspects of construction and repair of equipment and steel structures. Classroom teaching and laboratory training is provided.
  • Combination Program - Students learn the skills necessary for repairing equipment and for the construction and repair of steel structures.
  • Diesel Training - The program provides training for ships, farm tractors, bulldozers and other diesel engine powered equipment. The shop includes an assortment of engines and transmissions.
  • Tractor-Trailer Truck Driving - The program offers small classes.
  • Ford Maintenance and Light Repair Program - The program is in alliance with the Ford Motor Company. Students are provided training for universal standards of NATEF-ASE. Students are taught the skills required for entry-level jobs as repair technicians and pit-crew staff on the racing circuits.

Student housing is available. All students attend full-time. Approximately 80% of the students are in-state residents.
