Learning Options

AIU Online's “virtual campus” environment gives students the flexibility of anytime/anywhere studies. Delivered via the Internet, AIU Online's courses apply an “Asynchronous Learning Model” that utilizes a combination of face-to-face classroom time and web-based education components. AIU Online organizes students in teams and strives to keep class sizes small.

AIU Online offers students the choice in speeding up the completion of their degrees for some programs, such as for an Associate's degree. The University has a flexible scheduling approach for which students can take two courses in parallel or alternatively take a concentrated course in a five week session.

Features of AIU's online classroom environment include:

  • Interactive communication – message boards, instant messages, and email
  • Contents – multimedia lectures and presentations, printable presentations, frequently asked questions, multimedia workbook exercises, quizzes, online course reference resources, online library of journals, newspapers, and articles, and online help

Another online mode of study that AIU makes available is mobile learning, in which many course lectures and multimedia materials can be viewed from mobile devices such as cellular phones or PDAs.

Faculty

AIU Online appoints faculty with professional experience in their respective fields with the goal that they each will have directly related relevance to their courses. The instructors all have advanced degrees.

Student Life

AIU Online faculty has created AIU Community websites to facilitate interactions between students, alumni, and others on common areas of interest and study. For example the Educator 2 Educator site caters to exchanges between teaching professionals, administrators, and others. The Marketing Scene site brings together professionals and consumers to discuss marketing, advertising trends, specific ads, and more.

AIU Online's online Learning Center is another aspect of student life. The Center provides support services including:

  • Online Learning Labs – Provides study sessions at no additional cost that augment subject areas such as English, math, art, design, spreadsheet software, and presentation software.
  • One-to-One Tutoring – Students can receive live, real-time tutoring sessions from AIU Online faculty.

AIU Career Services gets involved with students from the time of enrollment and works with students after graduation. Career staff is available to help with career roadmaps, resumes, cover letters, interviews, uncovering career opportunities, and making contacts in a student's field of interest.

To help students navigate the technical aspects of their online experience, AIU Online has a 24/7 technical support team to assist with computing and software issues.

Admissions and Financial Aid

AIU Online admission requirements depend on the program. Every applicant must at least complete a telephone interview with an Admission Advisor and provide documentation of high school graduation or equivalent. Students whose first language is not English need to submit proof of English language proficiency. The admission process can be completed as quickly as four to seven business days.

For financial aid AIU Online can help students work through a number of alternatives. The University participates in several federal and private aid programs. University grants and scholarships are available. A student may have aid choices available from his/her employer including tuition reimbursement. Military tuition benefits may also be an option for veterans and active military personnel. Find disclosures on graduation rates, student financial obligations and more at www.aiuniv.edu/disclosures

Studying Associates - Computer Applications (completion in: 2011)

12/3/2011

"I wasn't satisfied enough with the cost or reputation. I plan to work in the civilian sector, and plan to keep the costs low which is why I decided to switch to the community college."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

CharacteristicRatingComment
Would Recommend?maybeI would if they wanted a degree that was offered online at AMU and they couldn't find that degree online at a local college. I would also recommend it to those in the military or government sectors who can't take classes in any other form. Other than that, no.
School Reputation6I heard that within the government and military it is considered reputable enough, but within the civilian world not many know or respect it.
Satisfaction With Major4I decided to switch to a local college. I was unhappy with how much more expensive they were than my local college and with the financial aid department. I also had a lot of issues with my adviser who kept losing my documents and filling incorrect information into the system (which also delayed financial aid).
Instruction5Since these were online classes there really wasn't very much instruction. This is why I say the instruction was average. This would really be the case with most online classes - the instructor assigns the readings and homework, and you are on your own to learn and complete it.
Cost1AMU is very expensive for an associates degree. It would have cost me around $16,000 where as I found a community college degree I can do mostly online, and it will only cost around $5,000. I do think their Master's degree cost is a little more reasonable, but not the Associates.
Schedule Flexibility10This is probably what makes AMU so popular. Your schedule is totally flexible, and teachers will grant extensions on occasions.
Academic Facilities7AMU did well in providing the necessary tools to learn the material, and they did offer a lot of support. The professors tried hard to make themselves available for questions and the library was easily accessible online.
Social Life3Being an online school there wasn't much interaction, which can be expected. However you do get to interact through discussion boards within the class, and there is also a bit of interaction on the face book page for the college.
Placement Services5The career services was a joke. I would check the job board once in a while, but I rarely saw very much. Instead they encouraged you to network a lot, and most students told me they had to find work on their own (including finding their own internships).
Alumni NetworkI am not really familiar with the alumni network and support. I decided to switch colleges before completion.

Studying Accounting (completion in: 1993)

"I was pretty satisfied with this school. It could have been better, but it was a great school overall."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

CharacteristicRatingComment
Would Recommend?yesYes! This is a great school if you don't have much free time, and you can just work online!
School Reputation5There isn't really a "reputation" among employers.
Satisfaction With Major5My school experience was average. It could have been better at times but it also could have been worse.
Instruction5The quality of instruction is average. It could have been better but it was online, so it was pretty good for an online college.
Cost10The cost is great! It's cheap and you can live at home!
Schedule Flexibility10This is very flexible. It's online so you can do it whenever you want!
Academic Facilities3There were no "classrooms" or libraries or anything since it is online. But the online stuff was pretty good.
Social Life1There was no social events. It was just taking classes online.
Placement Services1It was online so there was no career service that I knew of.

"They are always there to help when you need it. I get at least 1 call a week just checking up to see if I need anything."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

CharacteristicRatingComment
Would Recommend?yesYes I would, and I already have. My school has been so helpful with me that I feel it's the best I have ever seen.
School Reputation7From what I can tell they have a really good reputation. Employers from different companies like Verizon, Walmart etc. are looking to hire.
Satisfaction With Major10Class are easy to follow and you know what to expect. I also enjoy how your books are online at your finger tips and the teachers are easy to get a hold of.
Instruction9The teachers will respond back to you promptly. If you get behind on work due to problems not under your control teachers will work with you.
Cost10I thought the cost was fair when I started. Then they made it better by lowering the cost overall. You do not need to pay extra for books used online, and most are online. This made it nice to not have this extra cost.
Schedule Flexibility8For full time student you have 2 classes a month. Each week you have 4 assignments due by that Sunday.
Academic Facilities10They have a great tutoring program for my course. They also have a great online library that will only give you information that can be considered college level.
Social Life10There is a lot of groups you can join that make it nice. They try to have social events all around so everyone can join in on them.
Placement Services7They help you build a great resume. They do help try to find jobs, but most of them are ones you could find by going to Monster and searching.
Alumni Network10There are programs online that give you a chance to talk to alumni. The school has many different meetings in real life through which you could meet people as well.

Studying Bachelors In Information Technology (completion in: 2007)

12/26/2011

"I am completely satisfied with my experiences at American InterContinental University Online! Like I mentioned earlier, I am in the process of obtaining my Masters Degree there and I have already obtained my Associates and my Bachelors."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

CharacteristicRatingComment
Would Recommend?yesI would completely recommend American InterContinental University Online to others. It offers a very flexible schedule to accommodate any busy person. I am a father and husband and currently am working to start my own business, and I was able to obtain a quality education with an authentic college experience.
School Reputation8I have spoken with many employers and they do accept American InterContinental University Online as an actual college experience. This is mainly because the school is accredited and it does provide college degrees.
Satisfaction With Major10American InterContinental University Online introduced me to a wide array of things within the IT field. I have obtained my associates and bachelors from the school and I am currently in the process of getting my masters.
Instruction9The curriculum that was used helped us obtain a level of education limited by the amount of work one wanted to do. If you did not want to do the work, then you would not pass, or even learn anything.
Cost6It was a little expensive to attend American InterContinental University Online, but so is any other college. I do not understand why it cost so much for it to be online, but nonetheless, it was a college experience at an accredited school, and the outcome is a college degree in one of the many fields they offer.
Schedule Flexibility10You would attend class any time during the week if you wanted to. There were a couple of live chat sessions with the instructors that were a set times, but they not mandatory. Although if you needed assistance, it was a good idea to attend the session.
Academic Facilities10The school provided a virtual library with many resources located across the world wide web. They also issued actual textbooks to the students and would provide any means necessary to help with a topic.
Social Life1Because American InterContinental University is primarily an online school, there were not many instances to show school spirit. There are actual campuses located across the USA and in other countries, like in England.
Placement Services5The school provided a system to help teach you interview skills or to get your resume in order. They do not offer services to help find you a job, though.
Alumni Network8I continue to keep in touch with students that I graduated with or even pass by in a class. I plan to one day in the near future visit someone that I met that is from Florida and I hope to become a good friend with him in real life.

Studying Criminal Justice (completion in: 2009)

"Very satisfied and glad I went to this school."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

CharacteristicRatingComment
Would Recommend?yesAnyone who is seeking a degree in criminal justice should attend this school.
School Reputation10Reputation is great. School is one of the best in the United States.
Satisfaction With Major10Excellent school and one of the best in the US. Professors are all from different backgrounds related to the field of study.
Instruction10Relevance to field is extremely high because program prepares and gives you general knowledge about criminal justice.
Cost9Being an out of state student I wish the cost was less. Education cost is extremely high today.
Schedule Flexibility9The class schedule is very flexible. I was able to schedule all of my classes in one full day.
Academic Facilities9Up to date facilities and technologically advanced classrooms.
Social Life9very outgoing and active social life. Many clubs to join.
Placement Services9The job placement service is extremely helpful because the school offers job fairs.

Studying Associate's In Business Administration (completion in: 2012)

1/10/2012

"Overall I was pleased. It was a supportive atmosphere. My favorite aspect was that it was a very fast program."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

CharacteristicRatingComment
Would Recommend?yesProbably. It is a good way to get back into school.
School ReputationI am still trying to finish the degree. I am not sure what employers think of it thus far.
Satisfaction With Major6I thought that it was somewhat easy. It was not that challenging. I really liked the professors and all of the staff associated with the college.
Instruction7I thought that the teachers could have taught more in their lessons. Sometimes they would ask us very in depth questions on the homework that they had covered very quickly.
Cost5I thought that it was about the right price. For what I got I was happy with what I paid.
Schedule Flexibility8I always had an easy time with my professors asking for extensions when I really needed them. The teachers were always accommodating when I had issues turning in work on time.
Academic Facilities7AIU has pretty good resources. The library has a ton of great information that makes research much easier.
Social Life3Really non-existent. There is a social networking feature but it really is not that great.
Placement Services8I think that this is one of the strongest parts of the college. Career Services is a great part of the university. They are really helpful.
Alumni NetworkI really have not utilized the alumni network. I just never had a use for it.

Studying Business Administration - Marketing (completion in: 2009)

1/21/2012

"I was very satisfied because of the academic knowledge that I acquired, which I used to further my career in business administration."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

CharacteristicRatingComment
Would Recommend?yesI chose "yes" because American InterContinental University would give any student an excellent education. The student would learn how to apply that education in a real working environment.
School Reputation9
Satisfaction With Major10Business Administration at American InterContinental University afforded me a well-rounded, comprehensive course of study that prepared me for the field of business administration/marketing, finance, and research, to name a few. The knowledge I gained prepared me to work in a position in the field of business administration because I was able to apply what I learned in the position that I currently work in. Should I decide to look for another position, I would be confident in knowing that I would be the best choice for that position.
Instruction10The professors gave me a quality education because I was able to take the knowledge they gave me to the workplace. As far as career preparation goes, American InterContinental University provided direction in locating a position in my field. The curriculum was extensive, comprehensive, and challenging.
Cost7The cost of attending was very expensive, in excess of 40K. However, it was well worth the cost considering the academic knowledge that I acquired that I could use in real time. I appreciated the fact that I was able to acquire scholarships because of my high academic achievements, which made it well worth the cost.
Schedule Flexibility10I attended American InterContinental University online. This afforded me the flexibility to attend classes 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The schedule was completely flexible. I just was required to complete the coursework in the timeframe allowed for a project/assignment.
Academic Facilities10American InterContinental University's academic facilities and resources were excellent. They were excellent because the libraries, media, academic advisors, tutors, study groups, and professors were always available. Academic advisors and professors could be e-mailed with questions and they would reply to the e-mails promptly without delay (within 24 hours). Because I attended online classes exclusively, there was never a time when I was not able to conduct research. I used my own computer, which the school assisted me in acquiring using my scholarship funds.
Social Life8Because I attended online, there were no face-to-face parties, athletic events, or organized social events, except during graduation. If face-to-face events were to occur, the students would have to arrange them individually. School spirit was also not something that was expressed by American InterContinental University. They just required that we comply with the rules and respect our professors. However, they did offer various memorabilia that we could purchase.
Placement Services51. American InterContinental University's job placement and career services were "average." Average is the rating I chose because they lack good placement of their students in jobs after graduation. As far as career services assistance, American InterContinental University provided good direction in the form of advice on resume creation and websites to locate jobs.
Alumni Network10The alumni network support is excellent. American Intercontinental University sends me information that has been valuable, and they keep me abreast of the latest information relevant to my career.

Studying I Am Currently Enrolled In The Bachelor Degree Program For Criminal Justice (Forensic Science). (completion in: 2013)

1/23/2012

"I am very satisfied with AIU's online program. I have the flexible schedule I need to keep up with my course load and my family. I have great instructors to assist me with my work."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

CharacteristicRatingComment
Would Recommend?yesThe program is very flexible and the instructors are amazing. The course load is not too heavy but one can still learn a lot.
School Reputation8I have seen bad reviews as well as good reviews on the internet. There will always be reviews of both kind, but it all depends on what you get out of the program.
Satisfaction With Major10My instructors have made my course load as understandable as possible. The assignments are very detailed and are easy to complete.
Instruction10I am currently getting career services assistance and this help makes finding a career easier. The curriculum goes along with the career path.
Cost2The institution is very costly. I need to go to school online because although it is costly, it works with my schedule, and that is more important than the cost.
Schedule Flexibility10I can log on and do my assignments on my time, as long as I follow the deadlines set by the institution. This makes it very easy to get my assignments completed.
Academic Facilities9AIU's online facilities assist students in all courses. The staff and online library make attending AIU possible.
Social LifeI do not participate in any school functions. I am enrolled in the online program and therefore do not visit the campus.
Placement Services9I am getting career services assistance and it has been very helpful.
Alumni NetworkI am not currently involved in any alumni network or support groups. I do plan on becoming involved in networking with other AIU alumni.

Studying Information Technology Computer Systems (completion in: 2005)

1/30/2012

"As I noted in the beginning, I thought that the curriculum was far too easy. The demand of the lessons was not nearly as heavy as it was at other schools I attended."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

CharacteristicRatingComment
Would Recommend?noRepeat -- I do not feel that I earned the quality of education I tried to achieve. The classes were far too easy, half of my class graduated Suma Cum Laude, and the required study time was not as intensive as other schools I have attended.
School Reputation5I do not know. All I know is that I was not the only employee who took classes at the same school I did.
Satisfaction With Major7The curriculum was far too easy. I graduated Suma Cum Laude as did more than half of my graduating class.
Instruction6Classes should have been longer than 5 weeks each. Subjects should have been covered more in-depth. Information Technology has so many facets to it that the curriculum should probably be broken down into more specific areas.
Cost7The cost was better than the first school I attended. Unfortunately, I will still be paying for my education for the next 2-5 years.
Schedule Flexibility10The school had both on-line and brick-and-mortar classes. I got my full education on-line. There was no flexibility once each class started.
Academic Facilities7All facilities were excellent. Classes included on-line chat/lecture with instructors twice a week. The library had extensive resources. More than half of the class time was devoted to labs.
Social LifeI do not know about social events. I received my full education on-line.
Placement ServicesI did not need to use their job placement and career services. I already had a career/full-time job.
Alumni NetworkI've never used the alumni network. I've never even logged in to see what it was about.

Studying Business Management With A Concentration In Criminal Justice (completion in: I didn't complete my degree)

2/4/2012

"I disliked the lack of support from the staff. I also did not like not understanding how to use all the areas of their site, which made it difficult and time consuming to do my studies."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

CharacteristicRatingComment
Would Recommend?noI felt like there was a lack of guidance, especially when I was starting out. I don't feel like there were enough opportunities to participate in things outside of the classes (honor societies, etc).
School Reputation3My employer was not aware of this school at all. I do not know if others are aware of them or would see them as a credible university.
Satisfaction With Major4It was difficult to navigate the web site to complete assignments or find required information. It was also difficult to find assistance when I needed it about the site or an assignment.
Instruction4It seemed that I was enrolled in classes that did not pertain to my interests or degree. I felt that the classes that did pertain to my degree were not conducted in a manner that would help me in the real world.
Cost5The fees associated with this school are about the same as other online programs for what they have to offer. I would have been willing to pay more for a more complete experience.
Schedule Flexibility9I was able to attend during the times that I was available. This was conducive to me taking extra classes to try and shorten the time it would take for me to achieve my degree.
Academic Facilities2I took online classes and found it difficult to navigate through. The online library was a cumbersome experience and I felt that I was not able to be as efficient as I would have liked to have been.
Social Life1No social interaction at this University. I have since attended a different school that gave me the opportunity to participate in clubs and honor societies even though it was also online.
Placement ServicesI did not complete my degree with this school. I was not at the point of being placed into a job due to not having my degree.
Alumni Network2When asking questions, I did not receive information in a timely fashion. This made me feel like I would be underprepared for my time with this university.

Studying Associate's Of Business Administration (completion in: I didn't complete my degree)

2/7/2012

"I was satisfied with the courses that were provided. I wasn't satisfied by how the academic counselors and some of the instructors didn't respond to issues that had arose through my schooling."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

CharacteristicRatingComment
Would Recommend?maybeI can't say that I would or wouldn't recommend the school. I wasn't very satisfied with it, but other people may think that it could be a good fit for them.
School Reputation5I have seen both good and bad reviews from employers regarding how they feel the college is represented. The reviews are very mixed so I cannot say wether they have a poor or great reputation.
Satisfaction With Major8I think that the courses that were provided in the major were beneficial for fully understanding the field of study. The main courses fit perfectly into the curriculum.
Instruction5The school had good courses, but the instructors and instruction they provided was not that great. Some instructors went above and beyond to make sure you learned what was necessary whereas others just provided information without additional explanation.
Cost5From what I researched before choosing American Intercontinental University, the pricing seemed to be average for what was offered by other online colleges. It was not very expensive but it was also not the lowest price I had found either.
Schedule Flexibility10I would say that classes were very flexible since they are offered online. I never took any directly at the campus so I'm not sure how flexible the other class options they offer are.
Academic Facilities10The wealth of information that was offered through their online campus was wonderful. Also, the online library had many different options for finding information which made it very easy to use.
Social LifeI didn't directly have a social experience through the school since I only went to it through their online campus.
Placement ServicesI was offered job placement and career service assistance but declined to use them at the time they were offered. I had no plans of immediately searching for a job because I wanted to continue on with my education first.
Alumni NetworkI don't know how their alumni network and support would rate since I didn't use them.

2/23/2012

"Very satisfied, indeed. As I have stated multiple times now, I thank AIU every day I wake up. They prepared me for what it would take to be successful in the business world."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

CharacteristicRatingComment
Would Recommend?yesI would definitely recommend American InterContinental University to others. In fact, I already recommended them to my cousin who will be studying for his Bachelors in Criminal Justice next fall.
School Reputation8I have gotten nothing but positive reviews from employers when I tell them were I got my Associates degree. It seems to have a very good reputation from what I've noticed.
Satisfaction With Major10It paved the way for my successful future. I give AIU a ton of credit for the success I've had in my life.
Instruction8The instructors were very helpful. Although like everyone else, no one is perfect. I'm glad I got to meet them.
Cost7Tuition is always rough, but this was not overpriced. I have no complaints about the price of tuition.
Schedule Flexibility6My schedule was pretty set in stone. There was nothing really wrong with it, but there were times when I was forced to miss priorities due to a conflict in my schedule.
Academic Facilities10I studied at AIU through the online program. I didn't see much of the facilities. However, the faculty was top notch!
Social LifeI had a great time studying at AIU. As I stated before, I studied through the online program, so I didn't experience much of a social life. However, I am so thankful for the jump start to my career!
Placement Services9Awesome job helping prepare me for my career. I was definitely confident entering the business world thanks to AIU.
Alumni NetworkI have not gotten any notices since graduating in '05. Guess that means it can't be good or bad.

Studying Associate Of Arts In Business Administration (completion in: 2004)

3/11/2012

"My goal was to achieve an Associates Degree in minimal time. My goal was achieved, therefore I rate the institution highly."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

CharacteristicRatingComment
Would Recommend?maybeThe "professional" benefits to me have been minimal. My decision to attend college and achieve a degree was strictly a non-professional decision motivated by my desire to tell my children the importance of education.
School Reputation8I have to proffer a guess on this answer. I have not really had employers give me any feedback as to my choice of institution.
Satisfaction With Major8They had some peculiarities that were designed to get more money out of students, but overall the experience was a positive one. The instructors were mostly PhD's and very well versed in their areas of instruction. I never had a time where a professor said they would be there and they were not (i.e. they attended all of the chats and graded papers in a fairly timely manner).
Instruction9As I said before, the professors were mostly PhD's. They related well with the students and seemed to keep things on a professional level.
Cost6Again, I don't remember the particulars. It seems that they recommended that I separate out my final two classes, and by so doing my last class got pushed into a separate semester. Due to there being a separate semester, there was some ridiculous charge (somewhere along the lines of $1,000).
Schedule Flexibility10Before I answer this question, realize that it has been about seven years since I attended this online institution. I believe they started classes every six weeks and they lasted for five weeks. I believe that they had us take two classes at a time.
Academic Facilities8I don't remember using their facilities all that much. I do remember using the library on a couple of different occasions and it seemed to be adequate for the tasks at hand.
Social LifeTo the best of my recollection, there were no organized events of any kind. Therefore I will rate this as an "."
Placement ServicesThey do have a network where they provide job assistance. My career level does not seem to be a part of their placement program. My compensation typically runs in the $150k - $200k range and their jobs typically run under the $100k mark.
Alumni NetworkI receive e-mails from time to time from some sort of an alumni association, however I rarely have time to look at them. I'm not much of a "social animal" when it comes to those types of relationships.

Studying Project Management

3/9/2012

"It's an okay school if you are working or have kids. Other than that, you can do much better."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

CharacteristicRatingComment
Would Recommend?noMy friends are all young and have very flexible lives. They don't need an accelerated, online. C+ school.
School Reputation7The teachers are nice and very supportive. However, they seem to quick to give a student a bad grade as if they are trying to prove something.
Satisfaction With Major5It is a good school. I've learned a lot during my 3 months here, but it really is nothing special. At least, it has not blown me away yet.
Instruction10I am currently taking Business 101, and I must say all that I am learning in this class I can apply to the real world of Business. I am excited and looking forward to learning more in this class.
Cost8Considering AIU online is an accelerated program, I think it is definitely worth the money. However, it is only worth the money if you were to get a BA. It's cheaper to get your Associates at a community college, and your Master's (believe it or not) at a school like Penn State.
Schedule Flexibility10This school is perfect for a person on the go or for someone who has a very bust schedule. Ideally, a student should be on for only 2 hrs or less a day.
Academic Facilities10AIU online has multitudes of resources, a library, guides, and other information located all over the virtual campus. It is also very accessible and easy to use.
Social LifeIt's an online school, so there is no real social gatherings involved. They do have a section for students to communicate with other students in a kind of myspace/facebook format.
Placement ServicesUnfortunately, I have not looked into AIU Online's job placement program. However, I am certain they do have a program for job placement.
Alumni NetworkThey do have a special program for new students to speak to the alumni about their experience, grades, et cetera, but I declined. My mother went to AIU online for her Associates, and now is going for her Bachelor's, so I have my own built in alumni support.

"Most of the discontent was of my own doing. I didn't put forth the effort, but I would consider returning to finish my degree."

Would Recommend?maybeIt is a good school and I haven't personally heard or read anything negative about this school, but there are so many options now with distance learning and I would say that this school in particular doesn't seem to do a lot of advertising.
School ReputationI haven't talked to an employer about this specific school.
Satisfaction With Major4The counselor was rude at times, and I had little assistance when trying to sign up for classes.
Instruction5I feel that online education isn't for everybody and you get out of it what you put into it. At the time I didn't put much effort into school so I cant accurately rate this category.
Cost10My college tuition was paid by a third party.
Schedule Flexibility8When going to school online, flexibility is the appeal. At AIU, the flexibility was great. I still had time to work and enjoy my hobbies while attending school.
Academic Facilities7The online content was great, but sometimes hard to navigate.
Social LifeVery limited socialization. Just what went on within the virtual classroom
Placement ServicesI didn't graduate so I did not get a chance to use this service.
Alumni NetworkI don't have any experience or association with the school's alumni.

"I feel like it was too expensive. I prefer to actually go to a school instead of doing anything online."

Would Recommend?noI wouldn't want anyone to have to pay the amount that I had to pay. I would recommend them to look for better financial aid and to go to a school in their town.
School Reputation4No one that I know has ever heard of AIU. I have heard no negative comments.
Satisfaction With Major4I feel that the professors are not very active in the learning process. It was always really hard to get them to respond to emails.
Instruction4I feel that the curriculum was not well known by the teachers. A lot of times they had a hard time explaining things from the book.
Cost3It was very expensive to go to this school. We were not able to get used books since they were part of our tuition.
Schedule Flexibility7The timing of classes was very flexible, which is the main reason I went with online schooling. I liked the aspect that if we couldn't be there when the lecture was going on, we could listen to it later.
Academic Facilities5The online school did have lots of online resources which came in handy while writing papers. I liked the classroom, especially when folks could write things on a board and answer questions just like we were in a real classroom.
Social Life1Activities like this are not a part of online school. That is a downfall to a school like this.
Placement Services4They never helped me find a job. I feel that they just wanted to hurry up and be finished with me.
Alumni Network5The alumni network seems to be average compared to most schools. The online aspect is very nice.

"Very satisfied overall. Wish more people knew about the school for credibility."

Would Recommend?yesI had a positive experience. I would only recommend to those I know can self motivate.
School Reputation5Some have heard of the school and give it a good rating. Others have not heard of the school and therefore have no opinion.
Satisfaction With Major9Good curriculum and teachers were willing to work with you. I enjoyed the group work with others from various parts of the US.
Instruction8I felt the instruction was very good. I wish more real world examples had been used specifically in regards to the HR classes.
Cost8Online is more expensive usually because of the flexible experience. AIU was more reasonable than others I looked at.
Schedule Flexibility10You can work on your own time. Nights, days, whatever you are free for. They do have a continual year of school with few breaks which might make it difficult for some.
Academic Facilities9Teachers were always willing to answer questions. I can't say I ever used an online library at this university. I typically went to a local branch for assistance if necessary.
Social LifeSchool was online. I was not physically present at a site to participate in any social activities.
Placement ServicesI have not taken advantage of these resources. I feel that I may need to do so in the future and am hopeful they will help.
Alumni NetworkI have not used the Alumni network. I have not taken advantage of the support options.

"They provided a decent education and experience."

Ratings are on a 1-10 scale

Would Recommend?maybeIt depends on what people look for in a program and environment.
School Reputation4I haven't really seen my school's reputation among large employers, and I feel that if it were prevalent in the job market, they would rank highly.
Satisfaction With Major3I felt that I was just another number in the program and although my professors were very helpful, the program's directors and advisors were not helpful with guidance and information pursuing my degree
Instruction7The professors were always very helpful and adhered to their positions as educators.
Cost4I felt at times I was paying a significant amount for an education that was sub-par compared to other institutions but overall, I was very satisfied.
Schedule Flexibility6Always very flexible with my work and home schedule.
Academic Facilities5Everything was accessible and stayed open late for my convenience when studying. The library was always well stocked and the other facilities were always adequate for my needs.
Social Life5I met a lot of people and made a lot of new friends. The people here were always so nice and accepting. I felt that I fit in very well and that I got along with the other people in my program.
Placement Services6There were limited opportunities, and I wouldn't place that on the school's support system or networking, it was merely the economy that caused the difficulties.
Alumni Network4The network was very small but their support program for what networks they did have were encouraging.
