About the School
Beginning in 1968 Arizona Automotive Institute has been providing career training in automotive technology, diesel technology and heating, ventilation and air conditioning. The institute strives to supply the programs with the latest technology. The institute offers occupational associate degrees and diplomas.
Academic Programs
- Automotive Technology Program – Hands-on training is emphasized. Students are prepared for entry-level employment in general or specialized automotive service. Training is offered in brakes, steering and suspension systems, conventional and computerized electrical systems and computerized diagnostic systems. Preparation for an ASE certification is also provided.
- Automotive/Diesel Technology – Students are trained for entry level employment in general and specialized diesel service industries. The occupational associates degree provides plenty of hands-on training in repairing, servicing and maintaining diesel engines.
- Automotive/Autotronics Technology – Offers a basic understanding of the mechanical systems and subsystems in motor vehicles. The teaching of the basics of automotive electronic control systems is also provided.
- Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Basic Refrigeration – Students may achieve either a degree or a diploma in this field. Training is offered to provide students with the skills to work in entry-level jobs in commercial and residential air conditioning service and repair. Students are also prepared for achieving a EPA certification.

Faculty
Instructors are experienced in their field of teaching. Hands-on training is a major focus of the instructors.
Student Life
Current enrollment is about 800 students with most of them being male. The Student Association offers a variety of activities. The Student Services Department helps students find jobs in their selected field. Part-time job placement is also available for those currently enrolled. Regarding education, the school's library includes materials related to educational programs.
Admissions and Financial Aid
Students must have graduated from high school or its equivalent. An interview by admissions personnel is required. Financial aid is provided to qualified students. Also, selected programs have received approval for veterans' training.
