About the School

Avalon School of Cosmetology, established in 1967, offers cosmetology and student instructor programs. The programs provide comprehensive training. In addition, the central clinic floors provide a salon atmosphere.

Academic Programs

• Cosmetology program - Students are trained in haircutting, styling, hair relaxing, chemical texturing, coloring, and in basic and advanced techniques in hair extensions. Training is also provided in facials, manicuring, hair removal and makeup. A review of theories is also included. The program includes a substantial amount of hands-on training. The program is completed in just over one year. Students are prepared to take the state board examination.
• Student Instructor - The Arizona State Board requires students to have at least one year of documented work experience to enter this program. The program covers classroom instruction, basic teaching skills, teaching methodology, course development and lesson planning, clinic supervision, testing and student evaluation, classroom management, and other subjects. The program prepares students to take the state board examination.
