Located in Poway, California, Bellus Academy is a nationally recognized leader of beauty school programs. Bellus Academy was founded in 1993 and is part of the elite group of selected Sassoon Academy member schools, providing graduates with the finest technical expertise in Cosmetology. Bellus Academy offers students a comprehensive curriculum in all aspects of the spa and beauty industries including hair design and sculpting, make-up artistry, advanced esthetics, holistic health, massage, spa manicuring, and business fundamentals. Diplomas or certificates are awarded upon completion of the programs, and the Academy boasts some of the highest state board pass rates in the state of California. The Academy's training facility was renovated in 2008 and has the finest spa and salon equipment and instructional tools, as well as a student clinic for training on real clients. Students are awarded a diploma upon completion of programs leading to State or National licensing, or a certificate for those programs not leading to licensure.

Learning Options

Programs at the Bellus Academy are full-time, with options for daytime or evening classes to meet individual lifestyle needs. Students receive personalized instruction and hands-on learning in the school's salon with real clients. In addition, students who meet certain criteria such as having achieved a minimum of 90% in both attendance and academics and have completed 60% of their course of study, are eligible to apply for an externship program.

Bellus Academy has one commuter location in Poway, California. Renovated in 2008, the modern facility boasts large classrooms and clinic areas, a professional salon, esthetic and massage clinics, hydro and vichy shower room, and a make-up classroom. The 5-star features of the salon provide students with an optimal learning environment for a successful beauty career.

Admissions and Financial Aid

Students interested in attending Bellus Academy should be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Individuals with only a minimum of a 10th grade education must have the ability to benefit from the training, determined by taking and passing an entrance examination along with any other criteria determined the school. Prior to the start of class, all enrollees much take and pass an entrance exam.

Bellus Academy offers financial aid for qualified applicants, and most recipients receive more than one type of assistance program, such as federal and state assistance, grants, loans, and scholarships. Any student interest in obtaining assistance should visit or call the Financial Aid Department.
