About Berdan Institute
Berdan Institute was established in 1976 as the Berdan Institute for Medical Services Secretaries. It was renamed the Berdan Institute in 1977 due to adding a Medical Assistants program. The school offers certificate programs in the fields of Biotechnician, Massage Therapist, Medical Billing/Coding, Dental Assistant and Pharmacy Technician. The curriculums typically combine classroom learning and practical training.
Berdan Institute Academic Programs
- Biotechnology Program – A major objective of the program is to prepare students for entry-level jobs in biotech and manufacturing, crime and pharmaceutical labs as well as other settings. The program also includes an externship.
- Medical Assisting – Students are prepared to take entry-level positions. The courses provide training in various medical procedures, laboratory tasks and front office duties. An externship is part of the curriculum.
- Dental Assistant Program – Training is offered in basic dental office tasks and laboratory procedures. Includes classroom learning and clinical and lab instructions.
- Medical Office Administration Program – Students are trained for entry-level jobs as a medical/dental office assistant, medical biller/collector, medical secretary and as an insurance claims processor. The curriculum includes an externship.
- Medical Billing/Coding – Includes classroom and computer lab instruction modules as well as an externship.
- Massage Therapy Program – Students are prepared for the National Certification Examination of Therapeutic Massage and Body Works. Business skills are also part of the curriculum.
- Pharmacy Technician Program – The curriculum combines theory and practical training. The courses offer administrative and clinical skills. Students are prepared to take the national exam.
