About the School

Bethel University is a Christian school offering faith-based programs. Undergraduate, graduate, adult education and seminary programs are available. The university was established in 1871 as a seminary for Baptist immigrants from Sweden. The school was renamed Bethel University in 2004, in order to indicate the wide variety of academic programs the institution offers.

The university consists of the College of Arts & Science, Graduate School, Bethel Seminary, The School of Executive Leadership and the Colleges of Adult & Professional Studies. In addition, Bethel provides study abroad programs all over the world. According to the university, their goal is to prepare students to be involved in renewing minds, live out biblical truth, transform culture and also to advance the gospel.

Academic Programs

  • College of Arts & Sciences – Offers numerous faith-based programs including nursing, science, journalism and teaching. The college also offers a Reconciliation Studies program which features a term in South Africa.
  • Bethel Seminary – The teaching locations, provided all over the nation, offer services to large multi-ethnic population centers. Students can achieve a M.A. in Childrens's and Family Ministry, a M.A. in Global and Contextual Studies and a degree in cross-cultural missions.
  • College of Adult & Professional Studies – The goal of the college is to offer programs in high demand fields. Ethical issues, liberal arts and academic majors are examined from a biblical world view.

Faculty

The experienced instructors teach within an evangelical Christian framework. Bethel University states the instructors are dedicated mentors of students in faith and learning.

Student Life

The university has approximately 6,000 students from all over the nation and over 30 countries. A high percentage of the students are working adults. Executive leaders also attend the school. All full-time students attending the College of Arts and Sciences are requested to abide by the "Covenant for Life Together," values. This particular lifestyle emphasizes living a Christian life of personal morality.

The Ministry of Reconciliation is focused on tearing down social divisions and bringing people together. Overcoming racial issues is emphasized. The "Learn to Serve and Serve to Learn" program provides students the opportunity to serve community organizations and residents. The university includes residence halls, Career Services and numerous sports programs.
