About the School

Founded in 1910, Bowling Green State University (BGSU) is a nationally recognized university that offers courses online so that students around the world can complete a certificate, bachelor's, or master's degree. Most of the programs offered by BGSU Online are 100% online learning, with a few blended programs requiring some time on their campus in Bowling Green, Ohio. BSGU Online uses technologically advanced methods to provide a high level of interaction between distinguished faculty and classmates, with students listening to lectures, preparing assignments, and taking tests through a virtual classroom. The school has a small college atmosphere with a 19:1 student to faculty ratio. BGSU has accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools to offer full degree programs online.

Learning Options

BGSU Online's courses are on the same schedule as the campus university. Courses begin and end on the semester schedule, with assignments and tests having specific deadlines. Courses are taught 100% online, except for blended programs which require some travel to campus. BGSU Online requires students to log in often in order to stay current with due dates and to successfully complete each course.

Faculty

BGSU currently employs 861 highly qualified full-time faculty members, including national and international experts, authors, and faculty who have won awards for teaching and research. Virtual class sizes are small, allowing for personal attention from the faculty and support staff.

Student Life

BGSU has more than 21,000 students. Students attending online have a high level of interaction through the school's technologically advanced delivery methods, as well as networking opportunities with other students. The programs provide students with the flexibility they desire in a distance learning education.

Admissions and Financial Aid

BGSU Online has the same admissions requirements for students enrolling in on-campus programs, with applicants applying for admission, registering for classes and paying tuition. Requirements vary by program, and students interested in applying should contact the Center for Online and Blended Learning at BGSU.

All prospective students are encouraged to complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). BGSU Online offers several types of financial aid options including Federal and State grants, scholarships, loans, and Federal work study programs.
