About Brooks Institute
Established in 1945, the Brooks Institute specializes in photography, film, video production, visual journalism, and graphic design. The institute offers bachelor's and master's degrees. According to the school, standards of excellence are the norm and experimental learning is the foundation of all the curriculums. The school provides artistic, technical expertise, business aspects and academics. "Learning by doing" is emphasized in all the curriculums.
Brooks Institute Academic Programs
- Professional Photography Degree – Students are taught to manipulate and control lighting and exposures. Skills are provided to create images on various film and digital formats. On-location and lab assignments are included. The program offers a collection of photography specialties.
- Visual Journalism – Includes training with still cameras, digital video cameras and computers. Enrollees are provided the skills required to offer their stories to standard print media, the internet and the multi-cable environment.
- Film and Video Production – Provides practical training in professional film making and production techniques. Directing, editing and scripting are also part of the curriculum. Skills in making proposals and budgets are provided.
- Graphic Design – The program recognizes it's an industry where art and technology have been blended together. Training is offered in design, writing, video and film, illustration and photography.
- Master of Fine Art in Photography – Offers advanced technical, aesthetic and practical knowledge.
