About California State University Northridge Online

Founded in 1958, California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is a public university part of the California State University system. CSUN is a diverse community of nearly 36,000 students and more than 4,000 faculty members and staff. CSUN, through The Tseng College, offers distance learning programs geared towards mid career professionals, fulfilling the mission of The Tseng College to provide quality, accessible educational programs to all adults, regardless of age. These online programs offer adults the opportunity to expand their career potential according to their own schedules. CSUN is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

Academic Programs

The following two master's degree programs are currently offered through The Tseng College:

  • Master of Science in Communication Disorders & Sciences - Program in Speech-Language Pathology taking 36 months to complete
  • Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies - Program preparing students for leadership roles in public and private educational institutions taking 24 months to complete

The Tseng College is also currently working on the creation of additional programs that will be available in the upcoming years.

Learning Options

Distance learning programs through The Tseng College at CSUN are based on a cohort format, with cohorts consisting of students who enter the program at the same time and progress as a group throughout each course. Cohorts begin twice per year, in the fall and spring. Programs are interactive via the school's e-learning platform, with students interacting on discussion boards, chat forums, and by e-mail.

Faculty

The faculty at The Tseng College are highly qualified educators who are experienced in their respective fields. Faculty of these programs are also experienced in teaching adult students, as well as distance learning programs. The school is committed to the professional development of its faculty and staff.

Student Life

Support services are provided for all program participants at The Tseng College, to ensure that mid career professionals are successful in completing their degrees. Each student received a dedicated coordinator to assist with program questions and issues. Through the cohort format, students are able to develop relationships with each other. In addition, technology support and library resources are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Admissions and Financial Aid

Each program has specific requirements, but in general, candidates must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited university or college, and have been in good standing at the last institution attended. Minimum GPA requirements may apply. In addition, students may have to submit a current resume or curriculum vita, along with letters of recommendation.

Distance learning participants are provided a financial aid advisor to assist with determining the best financing options. Financial aid is available at CSUN, such as grants, scholarships and loans.
