About the School
Career Quest Learning Centers, Inc., an affiliate of Career Quest, Inc., offers specialized career training in the fields of computerized office technology and allied health. The school was founded in 1995 and has two campus locations in Michigan, in Lansing and Jackson. Career Quest Learning Centers has established, long term relationships with area employers to keep apprised of any new developments in the labor force, and offers extensive job placement assistance. Career Quest is accredited by the Commission of the Council on Occupational Education, and is a proud member of the National Technical Honor Society.
Academic Programs
The Lansing location offers both allied health and computerized technology programs, and the Jackson location only offers allied health programs. The following five programs are offered:
- Medical Assistant – Program prepares students for employment in a modern medical office setting and gives a solid foundation in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology. Some of the skills taught include assisting physicians during examination and treatment, and performing a variety of laboratory and clinical procedures. Students also participate in medical billing and coding classes, and must learn medical office procedures, keyboarding and word processing. This program also includes an externship for on-the-job experience.
- Medical Administration Assistant – Program prepares students for employment in medical administrative careers. Students learn to perform office tasks such as patient scheduling, billing, coding, reception, office accounting and filling. Basic clinical tasks such as CPR are also taught. Students are required to complete an externship as part of the program.
- IT Professional – Program prepares students for employment in a variety of entry-level Information Technology (IT) occupations. Students learn about computer hardware and software troubleshooting, and about Local Area Networks. Graduates will be qualified for employment as Help Desk Support Specialists, LAN Administrators and Computer Hardware Technicians.
- Administrative Assistant – Program prepares students for employment in today's modern office setting by teaching a wide array of office and computer skill. Graduates will be able to seek entry-level employment such as receptionist and typist, or more advanced level employment such as Administrative Assistant, Customer Service Representative, and Office Manager. This program includes an externship as part of the curriculum.
- PC Specialist Program – Program teaches advanced skills in keyboarding and computer applications. Computer software programs that are taught include Word Processing, Spreadsheet Applications, Presentation Graphics, Database Management and Contact Management.
Learning Options
Class schedules are flexible, with morning, afternoon, and evening classes available. The latest educational software and books are provided to students to enhance their learning experience. The school is a Pearson VUE Authorized Testing Center , a Microsoft Office Specialist program Authorized Testing Center, and a Microsoft Certified Partner.
Faculty
Students benefit from knowledgeable faculty, who are professionals with industry-specific experience. The school's partnership with Career Quest, Inc., provides the faculty with up-to-date information about employment changes in the Michigan area, enabling them to teach the necessary skills to be successful in their chosen field.
Student Life
Students can choose from two commuter locations in Michigan. The school has student support services, offering workshops and seminars to assist students. Job placement assistance is provided throughout their schooling.
Admissions and Financial Aid
Career Quest Learning Centers require interested students to submit an application and meet with an Admissions Counselor at the school. Students are expected to meet certain criteria, and the school does not accept all students that apply. High school and other schooling records must be submitted for review, and the school does offer credit for life experience.
Career Quest Learning Centers participates in several financial assistance programs, but ultimately believes that students and their families have primary responsibility for a student’s educational costs. The school participates in programs such as Pell Grants, Stafford Loans, and Federal PLUS Loan Programs. Students should discuss their options with an Admissions Counselor.
