About the School

The Boston University Center for Digital Imaging Arts (CDIA) provides career-focused programs in Digital Filmmaking, Graphic & Web Design, Photography, Audio Production, 3D Animation and Web Development. The school strives to offer curriculums that keep pace with technical advances. The campuses include labs, a screening room, photographic/video studios and a recording studio.

Academic Programs

• Professional Digital Filmmaking Certificate – Emphasizes hands-on learning. Pre-production, production and post-production are thoroughly reviewed. Training is provided in various aspects of filmmaking including, camera operation, sound recording, documentary interviewing, cinematography, screenwriting and editing esthetics. Students create their own demo reel while participating in the curriculum.
• Avid Post-production Certificate – Provided to enrollees who desire to enhance their post-production skills. Training is offered with Avid Media Composer, Adobe Photoshop and After Effects as well as Apple DVD Studio Pro. Graduates are prepared to take the Avid Certified User Exam.
• Professional Photography Certificate – Offers thorough training with digital darkrooms, digital cameras, image archiving, composition and workflow. The curriculum also offers training in operating a business and database management.
• 3D Animation & Interactive Media Certificate – Practical training is offered in modeling, texturing, lighting, design, animation and rendering for 3D design. Students participate in projects such as product illustration, character animation, architectural visualization and web media presentation.
• Game Art & Character Animation Certificate – Provides thorough training in economic modeling, animation, texturing and game engine limitations. The program utilizes 3D software.
• Graphic & Web Design Certificate – Students learn the skills necessary to design for print medium and the internet. Skills in creating newsletters, ads, websites as well as digital video and audio are included.
• Audio Production Certificate Program – Provides extensive training in music recording, sound design, studio operations, the latest music technologies, and music production. A thorough knowledge of professional standards is also provided.
• Web Development Certificate – Students receive comprehensive teaching in web development. Managing social content for the web is also studied. The tools and software used by professionals are included.

Admissions and Financial Aid

Enrollment is offered to students with a high school diploma or a GED credential. The student services department helps students locate housing. Regarding funding, the school provides a no-interest deferred tuition plan which allows students to pay for their education in four installments. Private student loans are also provided.
