About the School

Founded in 1995, Central Career School has been helping students begin exciting new careers in highly demanded fields for over 14 years. Located in the suburban area of South Plainfield, New Jersey, Central Career School is a small, for-profit college. The college offers three certificate programs in Dental Assisting, Medical Billing, and PC Office Systems Specialist.

Central Career School is committed to providing students with a high-quality education, with a mission of teaching students the knowledge and skills needed to directly enter the workforce upon graduation. Graduates of Central Career School have a high placement rate, and job search assistance is offered to all students. Accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT), a nationally recognized accrediting agency, Central Career School was recently recognized by ACCSCT as a 2008/2009 School of Excellence.

Academic Programs

Three major courses of study are offered at Central Career School:

• Dental Assisting – Program preparing students for entry-level employment in a dental office, including oral inspections, x-rays, preparing instrument trays, fluoride treatments, educating patients about oral care, maintaining charts and scheduling appointments, to name a few. An externship is part of this program to gain real experience with a licensed dentist.
• Medical Billing and Office Specialist – Program preparing students in current medical administrative procedures necessary for entry-level employment, including medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, medical software and billing applications, processing insurance forms, medical front office management, among many others. Students participate in externships at medical offices, hospitals, and insurance companies.
• PC Office Systems Specialist – Program preparing students in software applications used in today's office environment including MS Office, Quickbooks, Access, Desktop Publishing, and many more. Job search skills and strategies are also covered in this program.

Learning Options

Classes at Central Career School are held during the day, afternoon, and evening for maximum flexibility. Some programs may be completed in six months. Students receive personalized assistance due to small class sizes.

Admissions and Financial Aid

Central Career School requires all prospective students to have a high school diploma or equivalent. In addition, applicants must complete the school's application for admission and complete a basic skills test. Admissions Representatives welcome students to take a tour of the school and guide applicants through the process.

The Financial Aid Office at Central Career School assists students with a wide variety of financial aid programs. The college participates in Federal and State financial aid programs, including Pell Grants, Stafford Loans, PLUS Loans, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG), New Jersey Workforce Development Program Grants (and other State Assistance), and Veterans’ Benefits. The school also offers payment programs.
