About the School

Central Coast College was established in 1983. The private career college offers certificate and diploma programs in Medical Office Administration, Administration/Billing, Accounting, Computer Office Administration, Pharmacy Technician Specialist and Medical Assisting. Practical learning is a major part of the curriculums. In addition, Central Coast College has high standards for students regarding appearance, attendance and professional behavior.

Academic Programs

  • Medical Assisting, Psychiatric Technician – Students are trained in administration and clinical and laboratory procedures. An externship in a physician's office or clinic is also part of the curriculum.
  • Accounting – Students are trained in the areas of accounting systems, computerized spreadsheets, word processing, accounting theories and computerized accounting.
  • Computer Office Administration, Computer Specialist – The comprehensive program offers skills in bookkeeping, preparing reports and documents, word processing, basic accounting principles, computerized accounting and basic office tasks. Internships provide on-the-job experience.
  • Health Information and Patient Services – The Health Information and Patient Services Program will give graduates a comprehensive set of administrative skills they need to work in a medical office. These include knowledge, skills and abilities in: medical terminology, office procedures, record keeping, insurance billing, and medical coding.

Faculty

Student Life

The current enrollment is several hundred. Most students are female. Typically, more than 60% of the students attend the college full-time. Graduates of the college are provided with career placement services. Central Coast College is regarded as a commuter campus.

Admissions and Financial Aid

A certificate from a school that provides secondary education or a GED credential is required to attend the school. Admissions personnel guide applicants through the admissions process. Financial aid such as federal grants and loans and Cal grants are available. Central Coast College has been approved for enrollment for the Veteran's Administration Students for Education Benefits Program.
