Formerly known as Deaconess College of Nursing, the school offers flexible and progressive nursing programs with both online and on-site learning options. Chamberlain has several on-site campus locations. The school describes its mission as including the nurturing of personal growth, career options, community service, and leadership among health care workers.
Chamberlain's online nursing programs offer RN to Bachelor of Science and Associate degrees. Its campus-based programs offer Associate and Bachelor's degrees in nursing.
The school's Center for Academic Success provides students with an opportunity to utilize the services of peer and professional tutors for assistance with course work for both nursing and general education courses.
Chamberlain College of Nursing Academic Online Programs
Chamberlain's programs are designed to address changing healthcare needs while making accommodations to the various learning needs of nursing students. The schools online programs include:
- Associate Degree of Nursing – An entry-level program for nursing that is designed to give students the baseline of education and expertise they will need for nursing practice. The coursework is structured to give students the skills and capabilities they will need to take on registered nursing roles in acute, rehabilitation, and long-term operations. Students may elect to take the practical nursing licensure exam at the completion of half of the program.
- LPN to RN Bridge Program – This program is aimed at enabling registered nurses to move their careers forward by earning a BSN degree in as little as three semesters. The curriculum includes core courses, such as health assessment, information systems for healthcare, statistics, evidence-based practice, community health nursing, as well as electives.
Learning Options
Chamberlain's online nursing degree programs offer students the flexibility of anywhere and anytime studies. Coursework takes place year round to allow students to speed up the earning of their degrees. Students also have the flexibility of mixing online and onsite studies. Credits from previous coursework at other institutions may be transferable. There is no need for onsite clinical training with these programs.
Faculty
Chamberlain College of Nursing Online has an experienced professional nursing faculty. All faculty have at least an MSN degree with many also having doctorate degrees. The school's staff helps dedicated, caring individuals become nurses.
Student Life
New students have access to an online orientation to help get them started with their online nursing program. Online class sizes are kept below 30 to maximize interactions between peers and teachers. Technical support is available for those that need it.
Admissions and Financial Aid
The school's qualifications for new students include minimum test scores, minimum high school grade point average, and for some programs prior college work is considered. Nursing licenses may also be required. International students whose native language is not English may be required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language.
The college offers aid through Federal Pell Grants and Federal Academic Competitiveness Grants. Loan programs include Federal Stafford Loans and Federal PLUS Loans and there are a variety of scholarship opportunities that are awarded through the school.
