About the School
Established in 1878 in Burlington, Vermont, Champlain College is a private, non-profit institution that offers graduate and undergraduate degrees and certificate programs in more than 30 fields of study. The College's Continuing Professional Studies offers online studies for many of the campus-based programs. The college reports their programs are designed with input from industry and business leaders.
Academic Programs
Champlain's online programs include graduate and undergraduate degrees in business and technology. Several of the available online programs include:
- Business Management – Structured to provide thorough reviews of marketing, organizational behavior, accounting and financial modeling. Students also study Internet and information technologies and the global business environment.
- Accounting – Readies students with the analysis skills and knowledge to take on accounting roles that involve financial accounting, managerial accounting, auditing, Certified Public Accounting, and more. Helps prepare students with the use of accounting-specific software and for communicating with business managers, other accountants, and lay people. Champlain notes that its accounting graduates find work with regional and national organizations such as KPMG, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Ben & Jerry’s, the IRS, and more.
- MBA – The Master's in Business Administration program is designed to provide a strong foundation in a variety of topics such as organizational relationships, leadership, process improvement and human resources. The curriculum also reviews sales and marketing, financial and economic resources and customers and markets. Work-based research projects are also included in the program.
- Walter Cerf Master’s in Managing Innovation & Information Technology (MSMIIT) – Targets giving an in-depth grounding in IT knowledge and related management skills to help students take on IT leader roles within organizations. managerial skills to become a leader virtually anywhere in your organization. Covers topics from an IT perspective such as data management, telecommunications, computer hardware, the Internet, project management, human resources, financial decision-making and product development.
- Computer & Digital Forensics Bachelor's Degree – The comprehensive curriculum provides training in subjects such as the management of evidence, computer crime statutes as well as techniques for examining computers for crime-related information.
- Software Development Bachelor's Degree – Offers knowledge and skills in databases, information processing application programs and web pages that collect and provide information. Training is also provided in computer languages such as Java, C++, HTML, C# and other languages. The program prepares students to design entire systems.
- Web Site Development and Administration – Offers a review of web architecture and web servers. Students also learn how to create web sites, optimize server performance and provide secure online transactions. The program also examines CGI, Java, Flash, Active-X and other technologies.
- Web Production Certificate – Emphasizes hands-on learning. The program includes designing and building websites with HTML and design software. The architectural aspects that must be considered when implementing web servers and services are also examined.
