About the School

Collins College was established during the late seventies as Al Collins Graphic Design School. Currently, the college offers career-oriented bachelor's and associate degree programs in film and video, interactive media and technology as well as visual arts and design. Hands-on training is a major part of the curriculums. The campuses include classrooms, a digital print room, video editing bays, computer labs as well as a photographic studio, and a movie theater. According to Collins College, they offer industry current facilities.

Academic Programs

Collins College's programs are regularly reviewed by advisory committees consisting of industry professionals. Program areas include:

  • Bachelor's of Arts in Film & Video Production – The program covers a variety of topics including, the aspects of technical production of film images, 3D animation, non-linear editing, lighting, audio and screenwriting. Also, students have the opportunity to create and edit their own compositions.
  • School of Interactive Media – Created for students seeking careers in game design. Students are assisted in creating a professional portfolio. Enrollees receive training in studios, labs and classrooms.
  • School of Visual Art and Design – Offers degrees in graphic, game and interior designs. Classes are also available for those choosing to enter the field of web designing. Industry current labs and software are provided.

Faculty

The school reports that the majority of their teachers are currently employed in their field of expertise. Mentoring is offered by the instructors. In addition, the programs include industry speakers and workshops for enhancing the students education.

Student Life

The student body consists of recent high school graduates and enrollees who are seeking additional career training. The Career Services department helps students find part-time employment. Graduates are offered career assistance throughout their professional careers. In addition, the school's career-path program begins the employment search process in the students specific field of interest before they graduate.

Collins College offers clubs and organizations such as Career Club and the Alumni Association. Students also have access to a comprehensive library/resource center.

Admissions and Financial Aid

Applicants must have an interview with an admissions representative in person, by telephone or online. The application fee is refunded to students not accepted by the school. The college provides school funded scholarships every year. The scholarship office representatives also assist students in acquiring state and national scholarships.
