About the School

The school's goal is to provide students with a career-oriented education by teaching applied, real-world and up-to-date industry-focused programs in information technology, business, and technology management. Since its founding in 1965 Colorado Technical University has moved from a technical training institute to a university system with graduate degree programs. The school offers associate, bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees and diplomas.

Courses provide hands-on, industry-related experiences to help students prepare to apply their education to actual career opportunities. Program content is regularly evaluated and updated to ensure that it reflects the current trends in each of the fields targeted by the University.

Academic Programs

Colorado Technical University (CTU) curriculums encompasses a wide-range of topics within business, engineering, computer science, information systems and technology, criminal justice and healthcare. Programs vary by campus. The University's colleges include:

  • College of Business and Management – Degree programs include those for business administration, accounting, finance, management, marketing, information systems, enterprise information, and more.
  • College of Criminal Justice and Legal Studies – Degrees are available in criminal justice, paralegal studies and court reporting. Forensic investigation is a concentration option. Study areas include interpersonal and management skills, problem solving, criminology including causes of crime, offenders and victims. Also covered are juvenile justice, law adjudication, corrections and parole. The degrees can help graduates take on career work such as customs agent, immigration agent, parole case manager, fish and wildlife agent, law enforcement, corrections officer, child abuse investigator, victim services advocate, legal assistant, evidence technician, court officer, and more.
  • College of Engineering and Computer Science – The Computer Science track has optional advance degree concentrations in computer systems security and software engineering. Computer science studies include programming, modeling, algorithms, data structures, computer architectures, operating systems, professional communication, and much more. A system engineering graduate program teaches skills related to design of products and systems such as requirements analysis, modeling and simulation, process control, design synthesis, validation, and quality assurance.
  • College of Information Systems and Technology – Career-focused IT programs encompass digital media, information technology and systems, and enterprise information. IT coursework includes networks, communication protocols, databases, problem solving via programming, system security, and much more.
  • College of Health Sciences – Educational tracks include medical assisting, healthcare management and health services administration. Degrees are also available in surgical technology and nursing.

Faculty

The school seeks to hire professors with years of professional accomplishments to enable them to bring practical experiences into their courses. CTU emphasizes that its professors are dedicated to assisting students personally, academically, and professionally. Student Life

Peer and educator interaction occurs in the classroom. CTU campuses feature multimedia classrooms that provide students with the most current teaching tools for enhanced learning. The school hosts lively student lounges which are used as a social meeting spot for students.

CTU's Career Services organization works with both current students and alumni to assist in finding job opportunities. Career Services include job fairs and help with career assessments, resumes, cover letters, and more.

The Department of Military Education's staff members provide student services and support to military members and military affiliated students. Staff members provide assistance to students focused on advancing in their military career and to those seeking career opportunities in the civilian job market.

Admissions and Financial Aid

Incoming students must interview with an Admissions Representative as part of acceptance. Applicants must submit proof of high school graduation or its equivalent. Advance degree candidates are asked to provide an official transcript from their undergraduate degree-granting institution.

A CTU Financial Aid representative provides students with support required to navigate through the financial aid process. Students who qualify may be eligible for Grants, Scholarships, Loans and/or Earned Assistance (such as work study). Military admissions advisors, knowledgeable in military protocols and procedures, are available to help expedite the enrollment process. Military Education Benefits specialists help students determine the maximum benefits for which they may qualify. Prior Learning Assessment advisors help students evaluate how much academic credit they may be eligible to receive for their military experience.
