About the School

Founded in 1998 the school offers online law degree programs for Juris Doctor (JD) and Executive Juris Doctor (EJD). Affiliated with Kaplan University, a major private educational provider, the Concord Law School gives individuals the opportunity to participate in an educational plan that fits their career and personal goals.

The programs use a student-centered learning platform that is designed to create an interactive and stimulating learning experience. Both degrees are comprised of a rigorous curriculum that are aimed at competing with the country’s top law schools.

The student body is diverse, representing a wide variety of backgrounds and experience. Law degree students come from every state and from over a dozen countries.

Academic Programs

The School's Concord’s mission is to provide an accessible, affordable, part-time program that is convenient for individuals with job and family responsibilities. Concord students choose from one of two flexible and supportive online distance-learning law degree programs:

• Juris Doctor – This is a four-year, part-time program. The curriculum is focused on core bar courses. The school's interactive online environment offers improvement for individual feedback and interaction. Graduates of this program will have met the legal education requirements of the Committee of Bar Examiners, State Bar of California, and may apply for admission to the State Bar of California.
• Executive Juris Doctor – Created by Concord Law School, the EJD program is geared to students who have an interest in law or who are in careers that would benefit from a legal education. The three-year program is a part-time program. Beyond the list of required courses, individuals are free to choose a course of study tailored to their needs. The EJD is targeted toward individuals who would benefit from learning about the law without having to meet the regulatory requirements associated with becoming members of the bar.

Faculty

Classes are taught by expert, knowledgeable and professional faculty that the school reports includes some of the leading legal authorities in the field. Most staff members continue to be involved in the practice of law.

Student Life

Students establish a personal bond with professors through regular e-mails and on-going interaction. They develop peer relationships by communicating with each other in classrooms, chat rooms, on discussion boards, through instant messaging, e-mail and sometimes in-person study groups.

Juris Doctorate students meet regularly with classmates in study groups, to share experiences and to support one another in their studies.

Admissions and Financial Aid

For the Juris Doctorate program applicants must have completed a bachelor's degree in an accredited institution in the United States that is approved by the State Bar.

Applicants who have obtained a bachelor's degree or graduate degree in a regionally or DETC-accredited institution in the United States will be considered for admission to Concord's Executive Juris Doctor program.
