About the School

Concorde School of Hair Design (CSHD) is part of Empire Education Group, which has over seven decades of experience in cosmetology education. Empire is made up of a national network of over 85 schools across the US.

The school's training and education programs are designed to nurture the natural creative ability within students and prepare them for a career in the beauty industry.

Academic Programs

Training is constructed to emphasize theory and techniques that develop a student's creativity. After students completes a predetermined number of classroom hours they begin working in a Student Salon with instructor supervision. The programs prepare participants for the state board exam as a first step to launching a professional career.

Program areas include:

  • Cosmetology – Training includes cutting and styling techniques, color and texture services, hair cleansing, basic skin care, makeup and nail technology, and business development. Students will be prepared for careers as stylists, makeup artists, color technicians, salon owners, or salon managers. This is a 1200-hour cosmetology/hair styling program
  • Nail Technology – Students learn the techniques required to give manicures, pedicures, sculpting, nail art, silk and fiberglass wraps. This 300-hour program gives students the foundation for careers as manicurist, sculpted nail technician or pedicurist.
  • Esthetics – This 600-hour program teaches facials, massage, waxing, makeup, business development, retail training, aroma therapy, and body treatment techniques.
  • Educator Training
  • This is a 500-hour program that incorporates educational techniques, curriculum development, use of instructional aids, classroom management, and administration.
  • Barbering – Although not offered as a separate program, the skills included in the barbering course are taught as part of the school's Cosmetology program.

Learning Options

The school offers a variety of instruction techniques including lectures, live demonstrations, guest speakers, videos, and practical application. Training takes place using salon standard equipment including European backwash sinks, manicure, pedicure and stylist stations.

Faculty

Educators are trained professionals who are in constant communication with leaders in the industry in order to stay on top of the latest trends in cosmetology education. This is intended to keep the curriculum relevant and the training methodologies current.

Student Life

Students can choose from full-time day programs or part-time evening programs. This scheduling flexibility allows participants to live their daily lives without interruption.

Admissions and Financial Aid

Applicants do not need a high school diploma to enroll, but they do need a GED certificate or they must demonstrate the ability to benefit from the training by passing the school's Ability to Benefit Assessment Test.

Upon acceptance, Financial Assistants guide in-coming students in applying for financial aid. For students who qualify aid may come from Student Direct Lending, Federal Grants, Federal Loans Formerly the Guaranteed Student Loan, School Scholarships and The ACE Grant.
