Concordia University Irvine is a private, four-year liberal arts university providing educational programs in the Lutheran tradition. Originally founded in 1976 as Christ College, the school became known as Concordia University in 1993 and became the tenth campus in the national Concordia University System formed by the Lutheran Church Missouri-Synod. Concordia Irvine offers undergraduate, graduate, and adult studies programs at their campus in Irvine, California. In addition to these campus programs, Concordia Irvine offers an online Master of Arts in Education Curriculum & Instruction program that is completed entirely online with no residency requirements. Designed for students who already have teaching experience, this program may be completed in as little as 24 months.
Academic Programs
Concordia University Irvine offers one online program, a Master of Arts in Education Curriculum and Instruction. This unique online degree program is for experienced educators with a minimum of one year's teaching experience. The program has five terms per year, with each term lasting seven weeks. Students may start the program at the beginning of any term and generally take one or two classes per term. The entire curriculum may be completed in 24 months and includes nine courses and one capstone project, including courses such as: Curriculum & Instruction, Community of Learners, Leadership in Education, Brain Based Teaching & Learning, and Developing Character & Ethic, to name a few.
Learning Options
Courses at Concordia University Irvine Online are self-paced, with students eligible to begin the program at the beginning of any term. Students are not required to travel to campus and can study at their convenience from anywhere with an Internet connection. Generally, students spend between 10-15 hours a week on assignments.

Admissions and Financial Aid
Interested applicants must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Official transcripts must be forwarded to the school along with GRE or Miller Analogies Test scores, a letter of intent showing the applicant's goals for the program, and two recommendations. In addition, applicants must have completed a teacher preparation program and have one year of full-time teaching experience.
Students of the Concordia's online program are eligible for financial aid and should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Federal financial aid is offered, and includes Pell Grants, PLUS loans, and Stafford loans, among others.
