Students are now trained to become licensed cosmetologists, licensed massage therapists and registered facial specialists. The College has options for distance-learning education; these online courses help students attend school around their busy schedules.
Academic Programs
The college offers Associate Degrees in Medical Therapeutic Massage, Therapeutic Massage and Skin Care. Diploma tracks include Therapeutic Massage and Aesthetics Skin Care. Daytona College is a Pivot Point Member School granting licenses for students who complete the Cosmetology program.
Programs include:
- Medical Therapeutic Massage – This path offers a combination of massage therapy with medical office procedure training. Trainees will learn to treat and massage sports related injuries. Massage therapy techniques, hydrotherapy, ethics, error avoidance and current trends in the spa industry are covered. At the completion of the curriculum students are eligible to take the National Certification Examination offered by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.
- Massage Therapy – The program provides instruction in therapeutic massage with specifics on the constitution and function of the body. Class work prepares students for certification. Graduates are qualified for entry-level positions as Licensed Massage Therapists.
- Cosmetology – The Pivot Point Education in Cosmetology teaches students the wide range of hair design and hair care practices. Additionally, individuals get instruction on how to properly execute facials, manicures and pedicures. The Pivot Point affiliation helps ensure that students get the knowledge necessary to earn their license. Hands-on instruction occurs with actual clients in an onsite salon. Cosmetology students graduate as Licensed Cosmetologist.
- Therapeutic Massage and Skin Care – This program combines the expertise of massage therapy with facial skin care proficiency. This blended program readies trainees for the National Certification Examination for licensure as a massage therapist and for Registration as a Facial Specialist with a Certification in Body Wrapping.
