About the School
The Academy is part of the Empire School nationwide network of over 85 schools. Educators tap into their network of industry professionals to review and update the school's curriculum. The goal is to insure that students are receiving the most current, in-demand and relevant training for their careers.
Academic Programs
The Academy prides itself on its unique programming. Individuals are trained in every facet of cosmetology, esthetics, hair, nail and skin care, subjects which the school notes are covered in-depth and exhaustively. Additionally students are taught the key factors for successful client communications.
- Cosmetology – This 1200-hour program prepares graduates for careers as stylists, makeup artists, color technicians, salon owners, or salon managers. Instruction includes hair cleansing, cutting, coloring and styling as well as basic skin care, makeup and nail training.
- Esthetics – After introductory training students gain hands-on experience in the Student Salon. With an education that focuses on beauty theory and techniques and on providing an outlet for creativity, the coursework ultimately prepares students for the state board examination.
- Barbering – Barbering is part of the 1200-hour Cosmetology course. The skills taught in the Cosmetology/Hairstyling Program encompass the barbering curriculum.
- Educational Training – By incorporating classes that teach individuals curriculum techniques, classroom management and administration, this 500-hour program preps individuals for careers as trainers in the field.
Learning Options
- Instruction is delivered to students as a mix of lectures, live demonstrations, guest speakers, videos and hands-on training.

Faculty
The instructors are all licensed and trained in cosmetology, esthetics or as a barbering. Educators go through a technical and classroom management training as well as a certification process prior to stepping into the classroom.
Student Life
Students are supplied with a Professional Student Kit that includes the tools of the trade used by the experts. The kid includes shears, clippers, blow-dryer, irons, brushes, and modern CLiC (Certified Learning in Cosmetology) mannequins.
The school offers help with job placements. A few of the career paths taken by students include: Hair Stylist; Nail Artist/Manicurist; Esthetician; Makeup Artist; Salon/Spa Manager and Owner; Cosmetology School Instructor; Manufacturer's Sales Representative; Beauty Care Product Distributor; Photo & Movie Stylist; Image Consultant; Medical Esthetician; Beauty Magazine Writer/Editor; and more.
Admissions and Financial Aid
Applicants must be at least 16 years old and have a high school diploma or its equivalent. Alternatively students who do not have the educational prerequisites can be evaluated for admittance by taking the Ability to Benefit Entrance examination. Career Planning Specialists at the school can help determine which programming is right for applicants and they can help individuals through the application process.
Financial aid is available to eligible students. Options for aid may include: Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, Federal Stafford Loan, Federal Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students or Private Financing Programs through a School Scholarship or The ACE Grant. Financial Assistants help individuals navigate the financial aid process.
