Florida Technical College offers career-oriented undergraduate degree and diploma programs in healthcare, legal, design, computers and business. The curriculums are designed with extensive hands-on learning. The school's goal is to provide the education and training that enables the graduates to obtain entry-level jobs.

Academic Programs

The College's areas of study include:

  • Healthcare – Available programs encompass: medical administrative assistant; medical assisting; medical billing and coding; and patient care technician.
  • Legal – Offers criminal justice and paralegal studies curriculums.
  • Design – Covers computer aided drafting and design (CAD).
  • Computers – Students can select from: network adminstration/hardware with wireless; network administration with programming; electronics/computer technology; C++/Java programming; and network administration.
  • Business – A business and technology management program is available.

A selection of Florida Technical College's programs across these areas include:

  • Medical Administrative Assistant Associate Degree – Training is provided in utilizing computer programs to tabulate and analyze data. Medical terminology, word processing, accounting, medical coding and medical transcription are also studied in the curriculum.
  • Medical Assistant Associate Degree – Offers comprehensive training in a variety of administrative and clinical procedures. Graduates of the program have the opportunity to take the Registered Medical Assistant Exam.
  • Medical Assistant Technician Diploma – Blends administrative and clinical coursework. Students also have the opportunity to gain experience through an externship at a clinical setting. Students also study medical terminology, surgical procedures and cardiology and other topics.
  • Network Administration/Programming Associate Degree – Includes training in network design and administration and network programming. Windows, JAVA and C++ are emphasized in the program. The curriculum also includes a review of the basics of structured programming.
  • Criminal Justice Associate Degree – Students are trained to create criminal justice reports and interpret crime statistics and criminal evidence. A solid foundation is also provided in forensic science, aviation security, crime scene investigations, court procedures and other topics.
  • Web Site and Graphic Design Associate Degree – Combines technical and creative coursework. Students learn to develop and support internet applications. Training in animation and digital imaging is also included.

In order to attend Florida Technical College, students are required to have a high school diploma or a recognized equivalent. Concerning financial assistance, grants, scholarships and loans are available to eligible students. In addition, the college provides Imagine America High School Scholarships.
