About Gulf Coast College
Gulf Coast College offers career-oriented associate degrees and certificates in the fields of allied health. The college offers programs such as medical assisting, health information management and aesthetics skin care. A practical nursing curriculum is also available.
Gulf Coast College Academic Programs
Gulf Coast's programs include:
- Practical Nursing – Students are trained to provide healthcare to patients with chronic and acute illnesses. The curriculum includes coursework, training in labs, and clinical experience. The education includes a broad understanding of nutrition, growth and development, pharmacology, nursing principles and community health. Graduates have the opportunity to take the National Council Licensing Examination.
- Medical Assisting – Offers a background in clinical and office tasks. Students are trained to work in hospitals, physicians offices and clinics. Studies also include general education. For the diploma program, students are prepared for entry-level jobs in a variety of healthcare environments. Office skills and computer applications are emphasized. Training is also provided in assisting doctors with examining and treating patients.
- Health Information Management – Focuses on the business aspects of healthcare. The program also includes general education. Enrollees are provided with the knowledge and skills to work in hospitals, physicians offices, clinics, insurance companies and other healthcare related settings.
- Aesthetics Skin Care – Offers training in the holistic approach to skin care. The program offers fundamental and advanced knowledge of the structure and the function of skin as well as the skills to provide skin care treatments. Graduates have the opportunity to work in spas and medical facilities.
