About the School
Hickey College provides career-oriented programs in healthcare, technology and business. The courses are designed to meet the needs of employers. According to the school, the programs are designed to be completed in a short period of time.
Academic Programs
The college offers a variety of programs. Business programs encompass accounting, administrative assistant, legal administration, and paralegal studies. Technology covers careers in computer programming, computer specialist, graphic design, network management. Healthcare programs are offered for medical administrative assistant and veterinary technician.
Below are descriptions for several of these programs:
- Administrative Assistant – Offers training in business communications, computer skills and a variety of office procedures. The program emphasizes practical learning.
- Paralegal – Offers comprehensive training in the various aspects of the subject. Litigation, business law and research techniques are emphasized. Students gain practical experience through an externship.
- Computer Specialist – Thoroughly reviews software application packages, operating systems, PC hardware and the various aspects of administering a network.
- Network Management – Students are trained in the administration and maintenance of a network environment. In addition, the program includes specialized training in products such as MS Windows, Microsoft desktop operating systems, Linux and SQL servers.
- Medical Administrative Assistant – Offers a broad understanding of medical office systems, diagnostic codes, insurance paperwork, medical terminology and other topics.
- Veterinary Technician – Provides the knowledge and skills to assist in surgeries, monitor sick or injured animals and other procedures. Students are prepared to take the National Certification exam.

Student Life
The school has less than 1000 students and most are female. Hickey College provides students with residence halls, located near the campus. The Placement Department personnel help graduates of the programs find employment.
Admissions and Financial Aid
Applicants meet with an admissions representative and have an opportunity to discuss career goals. Concerning financial assistance, grants and loans are available for qualified students. In addition, scholarships are provided on an annual basis. Hickey College representatives are available to assist students in creating a customized financial plan.
