About ICS Canada
ICS Canada is part of Penn Foster, which for most of its over 115 year history was known as International Correspondence School, or ICS. Penn Foster is regarded as one of the oldest and largest online distance learning schools in the world. Originally started by Thomas Foster as a way to educate busy, working coal miners in safety and engineering, Penn Foster has enrolled over 13 million students since its founding. Every year over 125,000 students in Canada, the US, and worldwide are in a Penn Foster degree or vocational program.
ICS Canada is organized by schools that together offer over 50 home study diploma programs and a high school diploma program. The school strives to offer up-to-date career skills. The lessons and learning aids are sent to the student's residence. Students may also download study materials. New course materials are provided to students after they complete an exam.
ICS Canada Academic Programs
ICS Canada's programs are designed to assist students in advancing their careers or changing careers by providing up-to-date knowledge and skills. Some of the curriculums offer hands-on experience with the latest technologies. The programs strive to offer the skills in demand by employers. Some of the courses are designed to enhance writing and mathematical skills.
ICS Canada's studies are organized into the following schools:
- School of Health Services – Studies can include: psychology, animal sciences, counseling, fitness, nutrition, medical coding and billing, medical office, pharmacy assistant, and more.
- School of Technology – Program choices include: computer graphic artist, desktop publishing, computer aided drafting, electronics, PC repairs, programming, web design, and more.
- School of Finance & Business – Topics include: accounting, administrative assistant, bookkeeping, business management, hospitality management, and more.
- School of Education – Studies can include: child day care management, Spanish certificate, and teacher aide.
- School of Creative/Design – Includes: art, catering/gourmet cooking, dressmaking and design, floral design, writing, interior decorating, and photography.
- School of Legal Studies – Course areas include: legal assistant, law enforcement, and private investigator.
- School of Trades – Many study choices are available including: aircraft mechanics, appliance repair, automotive mechanics, diesel mechanics, electrician, electronics, gardening and landscaping, locksmithing, travel/tourism, wildlife/forestry conservation, and more.

- Upon the completion of each lesson, an exam can be taken online or submitted through the mail system.
- Classes began at the convenience of the students.

The majority of the students of ICS Canada are busy adults who don't have the time to attend classes. For student assistance, Graduate Career Services personnel help graduates with online employment searches. In addition, certified professional resume writers assist students in preparing a resume at no additional fee.

Enrollment advisors are available to guide students through the application process. Entrance qualifications vary by program, with some requiring students to have a high school diploma or equivalent.
