About Institute for Business and Technology
Institute for Business and Technology offers career-based programs in the fields of commercial refrigeration, heating and air conditioning, massage therapy, medical assistant, medical biller/coder/office specialist as well as lab assistant/EKG technician/phlebotomist. The institute strives to esnure that its career education programs are current with industry technology and practices. Practical training is a major part of the curriculums.
Institute for Business and Technology Academic Programs
- Commercial Refrigeration, Heating and Air Conditioning – Students are trained to install and service HVACR equipment. Students are also prepared to acquire EPA certification.
- Electrician – Offers in-depth training in electrical code and installing wire. Students are also trained to work with motors, transformer systems and manual and electric industrial controls.
- Lab Assistant, EKG Technician/Phlebotomist – Offers training in a variety of lab procedures including phlebotomy and hematology. Practical experience is acquired through an externship. The curriculum provides CPR certification. Enrollees are also prepared for lab assistant national certification.
- Massage Therapy – Includes training in Swedish, deep tissue and sports massage. Exercise therapy and dietary therapies are also included in the program. Students participate in an internship at the on-site massage clinic.
- Medical Assistant – Enrollees learn to assist with medical exams and perform various laboratory procedures. Front office skills such as managing records and taking care of insurance matters are also provided. Students acquire experience through an externship in a medical practice.
- Medical Biller/Coder/Office Specialist – Students learn to assign the correct code for each diagnosis and procedure. Students are also trained to use medical coding, billing and insurance software. An externship at a medical office is included in the program.
