Located in Amityville, New York, Island Drafting and Technical Institute (IDTI) offers diploma and degree programs in the fields of electronics and architectural computer-aided design and drafting (CADD). The goal of Island Drafting and Technical Institute is to successfully prepare students to enter highly demanded careers by offering a curriculum that stays current with industry trends.
IDTI has been serving motivated students in Long Island since it was founded in 1957. The school is authorized to confer associate's degrees by the New York State Board of Regents, and is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology.Academic Programs
Island Drafting and Technical Institute offers the following three Associate of Occupational Studies degrees:
- Architectural CADD Drafting – Program prepares graduates for careers as a CADD Drafting/Designer specializing in the Architectural Drafting field. Students develop the necessary skills to produce both manual and computer assisted production drawings.
- Electronic and Computer Service Technology – Program prepares students for entry-level jobs in electronics and computer services. Skills are taught such as troubleshooting and repairing electronic devices, and installing and maintaining personal computers and associated devices.
- Mechanical CADD Drafting – Program prepares students for careers as a CADD Drafter/Designer specializing in the Mechanical Drafting Field. Students learn skills such as producing manual and computer assisted production drawings.
Island Drafting and Technical Institute also offers the following three diploma programs:
- Architectural CADD Drafting – Program trains students for positions as CADD drafters specializing in the Architectural drafting field. Includes an extensive hands-on approach to CADD.
- CADD – Program provides a comprehensive CADD program with hands-on application.
- Electronic Technology – Program trains students to work as an Electronic Computer Technician. A sampling of the skills learned includes testing, repairing, and servicing computers.
For Professional, IDTI offers a continuing education course in AutoCAD. Island Drafting and Technical Institute is the only authorized AutoCAD Training Center on Long Island.
Learning Options
IDTI provides highly structured programs of study that prepare students for careers. Class schedules at Island Drafting and Technical Institute are flexible, with students choosing between day and evening classes. Class sizes are small allowing for personal attention. Diploma programs can be completed in 15 months or less.
