About the School

Jack Welch, the former leader of General Electric, as well as educator at GE's Management Development Center at MIT Sloan School of Management, has created two new programs at the Jack Welch Management Institute (JWMI) at Chancellor University. Two management programs, a Master of Business Administration, and a Master of Management, were launched in January of 2010, with classes being offered on-line and at Chancellor University's campus in Cleveland, Ohio. With the combination of Chancellor University's experience of educating students since 1848, and Jack Welch's progressive business practices and principles, JWMI offers students an academically challenging business education. Students in the programs will receive innovative coursework focused on the global business environment.

Academic Programs

Two business programs are offered at JWMI:

• Master of Business Administration – Program preparing students to be successful business leaders in a global economy, with the curriculum covering core business and management concepts and theories, blended with Jack Welch's business practices and principles.
• Master of Management – Program preparing graduates with diverse management skills through an in-depth study of management principles blended with Jack Welch's business insights and practices.

Both programs include a Capstone Project, utilizing knowledge learned from previous coursework, for students to develop useful solutions for an actual business enterprise.

Learning Options

Students at Jack Welch Management Institute have the option of taking classes on campus at Chancellor University, or completing coursework on-line. The curriculum will be updated weekly with streaming online video updates from Jack Welch about breaking business news and topics. JWMI offers online tutoring to all students, with tutors made available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Faculty

Students benefit from faculty members at JWMI who are industry professionals, with experience in the business world. Jack Welch also provides input to the faculty regarding their curriculum. Class sizes are small, allowing for personal attention.

Student Life

JWMI offers students of the on-line program maximum flexibility to schedule courses. In addition to tutoring services, JWMI offers career services to assist students and alumni in beginning their career.

Admissions and Financial Aid

JWMI requires all prospective students to submit an official college transcript, and students must have an overall undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 2.8, with some exceptions. Interested students must also submit a resume and complete an application.

The Financial Aid Office can assist students with completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and offers federal and state aid to qualified students. The school also offers payment plans.
