About the School

Jones International University, with headquarters in Centennial, Colorado, was established in 1987. Jones International reports that it was the first university to be completely online, which took place in 1993. In 1999, Jones International was the first entirely online university to gain regional accreditation, which was from the Higher Learning Commission. The university provides undergraduate and graduate degrees, including doctorate, and certificates from their School of Business and School of Education.

Academic Programs

According to the university, its courses are designed by professionals from leading universities. The school's online courses are structured at a weekly pace – for example students complete class work during the assigned week. Students also participate online each week and can post class-related comments at their convenience.

Program areas include:

  • Education – Numerous comprehensive curriculums are provided for new graduates and professional educators seeking to enhance their skills and increase their opportunities. The programs blend real-world applications and education theories. In addition, enrollees are required to participate in their communities or with nearby organizations. Areas of available specialization include adult education, corporate training, knowledge management, e-learning, and higher education leadership.
  • Business – The School of Business offers multidisciplinary courses. The wide assortment of business curriculums combine business theories with real-world applications. The courses offer cross-cultural perspectives and provide a broad understanding in the latest technological advances pertaining to the business world. Learning Options

  • Most undergraduate courses take 10 to 15 hours per week to complete, which includes off-line work.
  • Graduate level classes take approximately 15 to 20 hours each week to finish, including off-line work.

Faculty

The instructors are required to pass the university's certification program. The teachers must also have the appropriate education credentials and professional experience.

Admissions and Financial Aid

Admissions representatives guide applicants through the admissions process. The School of Business and the School of Education each have their own distinct requirements for enrolling. However, all bachelor's programs require a high school diploma and a GPA of at least 2.0 or a GED transcript or its equivalent.

International students must provide proof of having achieved an equivalency of a U.S. diploma at the appropriate level by a NACES approved credential evaluator.

For funding, the financial aid staff helps students find appropriate grants, scholarships and loans. Most of the students receive some type of financial aid. In addition, benefits are provided to military members and their families.
