Academic Programs

Kent State University offers several different online certificate and degree options including the following programs:

  • Nursing - RN to BSN - Program designed for RNs with an existing diploma or associate degree who desire a bachelor's degree in nursing. The RN to BSN program includes a comprehensive curriculum including liberal education requirements and nursing courses. This program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Master of Music in Music Education - Practitioner-oriented program designed toward music educators in general music, choral, and instrumental. The Kent State School of Music is dually accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and the National Association of Schools of Music.
  • Master of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication - Public Relations - Program offering a convenient learning option for students desiring careers in communication, including marketing, advertising and social media.

Learning Options

Distance learning courses at Kent State University are flexible, with several different online delivery systems including PC-based and room-based video conferencing, as well as web-based courses. Students interact with faculty and each other both synchronously and asynchronously. Depending on the program, students may be required to visit campus for a certain number of class sessions. Program lengths vary by program, but courses are offered frequently, with full and part-time scheduling options.
