About Medical Careers Institute

Medical Careers Institute offers career-focused bachelor's, associate and diploma programs in healthcare fields, including nursing, surgical technology, dental assisting, massage therapy, radiography, medical assisting and physical therapy. The programs emphasize practical learning. The Institute is also the School of Health Science at ECPI College of Technology.

Medical Careers Institute Academic Programs

The institute offers numerous specialized curriculums in healthcare. Several of these include:

  • Nursing Bachelor's Degree – The program combines online and on-campus learning. Provides a solid foundation in problem solving, leadership, applying research to real-world situations, legal and ethical concepts and current trends in nursing. Directed electives offers enrollees a broad understanding in the areas of nurse educator and nurse leader and other subjects.
  • Associate Degree with a Major in Registered Nursing - Students are trained to act as coordinators of professional nursing duties. The program offers the latest information regarding health maintenance, prevention, restorative needs of patients and health promotion. Students are provided the knowledge and skills to take the RN-NCLEX exam through the state board of nursing.
  • Surgical Technologist – Enrollees are trained to assist in surgical operations. The program also provides a thorough review of the basic and advanced surgical instruments as well as the fundamentals of surgical anatomy and physiology. Enrollees are prepared for the Certified Surgical Technologist qualifying exam.
  • Medical Radiography Associate Degree – Students are prepared to take the national exam of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Medical Assisting – Offers administrative and technical skills, computer training and a broad understanding of the medical assisting field. An externship provides real-world experience.
  • Physical Therapist Assistant Associate Degree – The comprehensive curriculum trains students to perform a variety of procedures while working under the direction of a physical therapist. Students are trained for employment in hospitals, extended care facilities, outpatient clinics, rehabilitation clinics and other settings.
  • Massage Therapy Diploma Program – Offers a strong foundation in the art and science of massage therapy. The medical and rehabilitative benefits of massage are emphasized. An externship is part of the program. The curriculum offers enrollees the knowledge and skills to take the national certification exam.
  • Dental Assisting – Designed to provide the background in radiographic technology, clinical procedures, and administrative tasks needed for entry-level positions.

Faculty

The teachers have the appropriate academic background and real-world experience in their field of teaching. The small class sizes allow the instructors to offer one-on-one assistance.

Student Life

Most of the students live in the surrounding region of the campuses. Medical Careers Institute offers graduate employment services. In addition, the school provides the Federal Work Study Program and vocational rehabilitation. School personnel also help students find part-time employment and housing.

Admissions and Financial Aid

An admissions representative guides applicants through the admissions procedure. Financial aid, including Pell Grants, PLUS, Federal Stafford Loans, FSEOG and Federal Perkins Loans are available to those who qualify.
