About the School
Founded in 1963, Missouri College originally helped fulfill the demand for professional staff in dental and medical offices in the St. Louis, Missouri area. Since then the school has grown its programs along with the needs of the healthcare marketplace and has expanded its subject areas. Missouri College now offers undergraduate degrees and diplomas in the fields of business administration, medical billing and coding, dental and medical assisting and massage therapy. The school reports that their programs offer the latest technologies. The college's objective is to stay up-to-date with current employment trends.
Academic Programs
The college offers several career-oriented program areas such as:
- Healthcare Management – Offers a foundation in healthcare management along with courses in finance, human resources, the law and other topics. The program's objective is to prepare graduates to be mid-level managers.
- Human Resource Management – The curriculum emphasizes leadership, methodology and ethics. The program also examines employment laws, hiring and termination practices, and business writing.
- Dental Assistant – Structured to ready students for working within a variety of dental office activities. The curriculum consists of lecture, laboratory and clinical components. Students cover subjects from a dentistry perspective such as anatomy, pathology, terminology, instruments and materials, x-rays, radiography, assisting techniques, and office and lab procedures. An externship in a clinical environment is part of the program.
- Massage Therapy – The curriculum is designed to be comprehensive and include the practical and theoretical aspects of massage, physiology, anatomy, pathology and clinical practice. A variety of massage techniques are also included. Students gain experience by participating in an externship program. The curriculum offers the knowledge and skills required to take the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork certification exam.
- Medical Assistant – Offers training in administrative and clinical procedures. Enrollees are required to take an externship at a medical facility.
- Business Administration – Training covers computer applications and software, financial topics, operations and administration, and relevant laws and regulations. An Internship is a required part of the program. The program goal is to ready students for entry-level jobs within business operations and administration.
