About National American University Campus

National American University was established in 1941 as the National School of Business and emphasized business administration. Since then the school has added a variety of education programs. Education is provided in fields such as business, healthcare, information technology and criminal justice. Some of the campuses also offer nursing programs. In addition, the university's online school provides undergraduate and graduate degrees.

The University programs are guided by advisory boards. The school reports that these boards help ensure that programs remain up-to-date through recommendations.

National American University Campus Academic Programs

The university offers a wide variety of education programs. A sampling of the degree programs is shown below:

  • Information Technology Associate Degree – Students are allowed to create programs that suit their interests. The subjects available include programming, Microsoft networking, database administration and software applications. The curriculum prepares students for entry-level jobs.
  • Medical Assisting Associate Degree – Blends laboratory training with lectures. A strong foundation is provided in administrative and clinical tasks. An externship is also part of the program.
  • Pharmacy Technician Associate Degree – Students are prepared for pharmacy technician certification. The curriculum is designed to train students new to the field and also those currently employed in the occupation seeking to enhance their skills.
  • Paralegal Studies Associate Degree – The program focuses on basic paralegal skills.
  • Therapeutic Massage Associate Degree – Offers training in the basics of massage. Graduates have opportunities for employment at hospitals, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, chiropractic offices and other settings.
  • Information Technology Bachelor's Degree - Emphasis in Internet Development – Provides training in designing, developing and maintaining interactive Internet web sites.
  • Business Administration - Emphasis International Business – Reviews the differences between how businesses operated on a global scale are run differently when compared to domestic enterprises. The program prepares students to work for a variety of companies that do business globally.

Faculty

The instructors have experience in their field of teaching. The instructors also serve as student organization advisors and academic advisors.

Student Life

The university offers a variety of student activities and organizations. The university also assists students and graduates with looking for employment opportunities. Students take a career management class that helps them ready their resume and portfolio and assists in building interview and search techniques.

Admissions and Financial Aid

Students are required to have a high school diploma or a GED certificate. The school recommends applicants contact the admissions department and schedule an interview.

Regarding financial aid, students are provided with a financial service representative that assists them in putting together a financial aid package. Federal, state and local financial aid sources are available to qualified students. In addition, the university has been approved for veteran's training and is a member of the Service Members of Opportunities Colleges. Through the American Council on Education credit assessment services, military personnel students can earn academic credit for most of their training, including basic training.
