About New York Medical College Online

Founded in 1860, New York Medical College (NYMC) is a private, graduate health sciences university, considered to be one of the largest providers of graduate medical education in the United States. Dedicated to its mission of educating health care professionals, NYMC through the School of Health Sciences and Practice, offers two high-quality Master's of Public Health degrees as well as two graduate certificate programs. Students can pursue an MPH by itself, or concurrently with a certificate program. NYMC is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Universities, and the public health program is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health.

Learning Options

The curriculum of online programs at NYMC are the same as campus-based programs. Online programs follow the same course schedules, with start dates in the spring, summer and fall. The online learning environment includes readings, group discussions, projects, exercises, and group assignments, among others. Most coursework is asynchronous, and students have to complete coursework according to due dates during the semester and participate in discussion groups.

Faculty

Online classes are taught by NYMC faculty, who are degreed and highly qualified, and able to share their work experience and knowledge with students. Many faculty members are actively involved with health departments, health systems, and national and international health organizations.

Student Life

Online programs are flexible, allowing students to continue working while completing the program. Many services are available to students such as library facilities, textbooks, and academic advising, to name a few.

Admissions and Financial Aid

Interested applicants for the master's programs must have an undergraduate degree from an accredited university with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. In addition, students should provide two recommendations, a personal statement, and a resume. Additional requirements may apply, depending on the program.

Financial aid is available for matriculating students taking six or more credits per semester. Students must be U.S. citizens and permanent residents. The Financial Aid Department is available to assist students throughout the process.
