About the School
Orlando Culinary Academy is affiliated with Le Cordon Bleu North America, one of the leading authorities on French culinary instruction. Their program is designed to teach classical French techniques with innovative American technology.
Students learn the theoretical concepts as well as the practical and creative applications of the culinary arts. Trainees develop the knowledge and skills for entry- to mid-level employment in the food service and hospitality industry.
The school is situated in 80,000 square feet facility that includes professional kitchens, lecture classrooms, and an Academy library.
Academic Programs
- Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts (Associate of Applied Science Degree) – Provides students with the theoretical groundwork and technical skills for entry- to mid-level positions in the food service industry. The program teaches classical French cooking methods and the qualitative aspects of food preparation, including nutrition and sanitation.
- Le Cordon Bleu Patisserie and Baking (Associate of Applied Science Degree) – This track prepares students so that they are proficient in a variety culinary techniques. They will learn how to prepare basic doughs, puff pastry, a variety of yeast breads, crackers, rolls, pastries, cookies, tarts, cobblers, cakes plus an array of other dessert specialties.
- Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts (Diploma) – The program teaches students key knife skills, cooking methods, butchery techniques, sanitation knowledge, and organizational skills. Courses include Culinary Skills, Safety and Sanitation Principles of Cuisine, Introduction to Baking and Pastry, Meat Fabrication, and more.
Learning Options
Education takes place in modern classrooms, professional kitchen labs, the computer lab and the student-run restaurant. Students receive both front- and back-of-the-house experience at the on-campus restaurant. In addition to the Associate of Applied Science Degree, graduates receive the highly regarded Le Cordon Bleu Diplôme.
Training includes a school coordinated "externship" program. This gives students real-world experience in local establishments prior to graduation.
Faculty
The faculty primarily consists of experienced professionals who work in industry. Professional chefs bring real-world experience into the classroom to aid in the student's training. Educators work to cultivating active participation, collaboration, and creativity.
Student Life
The Career Services department can assist students with locating part-time employment while in school.
Collegiate Housing Services (CHS) an independent organization can help students with individual and shared living options. CHS Housing Representatives are available during posted hours to assist with roommate issues and maintenance concerns. CHS runs regular events and activities interactive activities allowing students meet one another and form friendships.
Admissions and Financial Aid
All applicants are required to partake in a personal interview with the Admissions department. Students must be high school graduates or have a GED to be eligible for admittance.
Financial aid is available to students who qualify. Orlando Culinary Academy participates in a variety of financial aid programs for the benefit of students. The Financial Aid staff can help students through the application process.
