Located in Jackson Heights, New York, Plaza College is an established academic institution in the New York City borough of Queens. Plaza College was founded in 1916 and has been providing quality educational programs for more than 90 years. The College offers degree and certificate programs in the areas of Business, Medical, and Information Technology.

Academic Programs

Plaza College offers a Bachelor of Business Administration Program focusing on business courses that teach students how to analyze and solve problems faced by today’s business administrators. In addition, the College also offers the following associate degree programs:

• Medical Assisting – Program training students for career opportunities such as Medical Assistant, Clinical Assistant and Medical Office Assistant. Courses includes medical billing and coding, phlebotomy training, and EKG training. Plaza College is the only college in Queens County that is CAAHEP accredited.
• Computer Business Support Specialist – Program combines information technology courses with the study of business management and computer careers. The program teaches students skills such as how to apply technology to business strategies, system administration training, and managing and supervising information technology systems.
• Information Sciences – Program includes coursework in information technology, business management and liberal arts. Coursework will help students understand system technologies and computer applications, develop proficiency skills in computer software, and increase knowledge of technology and techniques.
• Business Administration – Program includes accounting, management, information technology and liberal arts courses. Students in the business administration degree program will have a better understanding of the most important underlying fundamentals of business.
• Office Technologies – Program allows students to apply this degree to either a business or medical setting. Courses give students a solid background in office technology skills.
• Accounting and Information Systems – Program teaches students how to make use of computer and information technology, while providing a solid foundation in the understanding of accounting principles and practices.
• Health Services Information Technology – Program teaches students to understand and be able to utilize an integrated health care system, develop strong skills in medical record technologies. Program also includes field work at an approved externship site working with medical records and related technology applications.

Plaza College also offers the following certificate programs: Computer Operations Assistant, Entrepreneurship, High Tech, Junior Accounting, Junior Office Assistant, Medical Office Assistant, Office Assistant, and Word Processing.

Plaza College graduates students at a rate of over three times the national average, and offers a flexible class schedule, with day, evening, and weekend classes available. Some programs can be completed in as little as 15 months. The College provides students with individualized attention through academic advisors. A wide variety of resources are available to support students in their studies, including an extensive Library, a Learning Resource Center, and an IBM University system.

Plaza College is a commuter school, and is centrally located just fifteen minutes outside of midtown Manhattan. Students can access Plaza College by train, bus, or car. The College is a diverse community, with over 95 nationalities represented. The campus is entirely wireless, with an Internet Cafe for students to enjoy.

Admissions and Financial Aid

Plaza College requires all prospective students to schedule an appointment with a career counselor to review program options and to assist with the application. The College does not have an open admissions policy, but generally accepts all students that show the ability to complete their programs. As part of the admissions process, students must complete an Admissions Placement Exam.

Financial aid counselors can help applicants obtain financial assistance. Many financial aid programs are available, including government loans, grants, scholarships, and specialized loan programs.
