About the School

Founded in 1890, Post University is a private, career-driven university located in the suburbs of Waterbury, Connecticut. Originally started as a business school, Post University has expanded its educational programs and offers associate's, bachelor's and master's degrees in many areas including information technology, health, business, sports management, equine business management, criminal justice, and social services.

In addition, Post University was the first college in Connecticut and New England to offer fully online, accelerated degree programs, and is now the largest provider of online education in Connecticut. Accelerated degree and professional certificate programs are also offered through an evening and weekend program at regional campus locations in Danbury, Meriden, Waterbury, and Norwalk. Post University is a fully accredited University by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (CIHE) of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), and is licensed by the State of Connecticut through the Department of Higher Education (DHE).

In addition, Post University offers Online Accelerated Degree Programs, where students can complete undergraduate degrees, three graduate degrees, as well as professional certificates via a highly interactive online program taught by the University's professors. For adult students desiring part-time programs, Post University offers an accelerated Evening and Weekend Program, with courses scheduled in eight-week modules in the evenings and weekends at four locations in Connecticut. Finally, for full-time military students, Post University offers a ROTC program and V.E.T.S. program for Veterans.

Learning Options

Post University offers classes at their main campus, online, and through their four satellite locations in Connecticut, with the option of both full-time and part-time programs. Class sizes are small, with a student to faculty ratio of less than 15:1. Students also have the opportunity to gain work experience through internships at local companies. The University offers a variety of academic services including tutoring, advising, and a writing center.

Faculty

The faculty at Post University are experienced practitioners and distinguished scholars who are a committed part of the academic community at the school. Small class sizes allow for close relationships between faculty and students.

Student Life

Post University has nearly 4,000 full- and part-time students. The University encourages students to live in their 58-acre hilltop residential campus and participate in a wide range of cultural, educational, recreational, and social and community activities. The main campus is wireless, with classrooms equipped with the latest computer and telecommunications technology. In addition, Post University offers men's and women's interscholastic athletic programs as well as Co-Ed Equestrian and Dressage teams. The University is part of the NCAA Division II and competes in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.

Admissions and Financial Aid

Post University has a rolling admissions policy with no application deadline, although students wishing to attend in the Fall must notify the University by May 1st. Criteria for admission includes academic experience, standardized test scores, personal qualities, and individual characteristics. Each program has different admissions requirements, but all students must complete an application for admission, submit any high school or college transcripts, have the results of any SAT or ACT tests forwarded to the school, and submit at least one letter of recommendation. Personal interviews and campus tours are optional.

The financial aid staff at Post University is available to assist students with developing a financial plan, and encourages students to apply for all available financial aid. The school offers a wide variety of options, with a majority of students using a combination of sources to finance their education, including Federal financial aid, loans, scholarships, and payment plans.
